Can civilization survive without God? Do watch the video. It is quite good. I have a great deal of respect for Christopher even though I pretty much disagree with most of what he has to say.
Brothers Christopher and Peter Hitchens squared off Tuesday in a debate over whether civilization can survive without God. Christopher, the older of the two, is a renowned atheist thinker and author. Peter, the lesser known of the two, is a practicing Christian and also a well-regarded author.

The existance of God is not at stake so why and what are they debating? They can think all they want. They will never fully grasp what it is they are trying to figure out and watching try and them do so only shows how limited an ill-equiped the intellect is in understanding such matters. After a few minutes of watching one may feel quite hollow.
If you want to get a greater understanding of God, don’t listen to a Hitchen’s debate. Instead, spend some time with your dog and loose yourself in the exchange of love that occurs. That is a far more fullfilling and heartwarming experience and will bring you closer to understanding God than any debate on T.V. ever could.
But has Western civilization ever had anything to do with God?
Or has it always been about the drive for power and control over every one and every thing?
What is commonly recognized and defended as religion in our Age is only the most superficial and factional and most often dim-minded and perverse expressions of ancient national and tribal cultism – all full of murderously reasonable intentions and actions.
This is certainly the case with the kind of religion promoted by right-wing religionists – wherever they are in the world altogether.
