I’ve received some emails on this bishop of North Michigan business, from sources I trust. And I hate to say this but I really do think the haters have a point on this one, although maybe for the wrong reasons.
Firstly, the Buddhism business. If he’s just into a bit of meditation I can’t see any problem. But if he is in anyway a devotee of the Buddhist religion he cannot be an Anglican bishop. Buddhists might be nice people but they are atheists (well, proper Buddhists are) and they are dualists. We have enough trouble with dualism in the haters’ camp without having mainstream bishops running around selling it as an option to the Creeds.
