Palin says God will do the right thing on election day

CNN ‘s Peter Hamby reports:

In an interview posted online Wednesday, Sarah Palin told Dr. James Dobson of “Focus on the Family” that she is confident God will do “the right thing for America” on Nov. 4.

Dobson asked the vice presidential hopeful if she is concerned about John McCain’s sagging poll numbers, but Palin stressed that she was “not discouraged at all.”

“To me, it motivates us, makes us work that much harder,” she told the influential Christian leader, whose radio show reaches tens of millions of listeners daily. “And it also strengthens my faith because I know at the end of the day putting this in God’s hands, the right thing for America will be done, at the end of the day on Nov. 4.”

  1. Rubin says:

Does this mean that God is a republican? If Sen. Obama wins, does that mean that God doesn’t like McCain or Palin and will they admit they were wrong or call God a socialist loving terrorist? What about Clinton, Carter, et al? Did God not care during those elections?

  2. Joe Good says:

The inevitable outcome of the election process does not rest on the shoulders of Gods unless he intervenes. There is no scriptural basis for Gov Palins comment. If God wants to move the chess pieces of the world he will and sometimes his coarse of action is completely different than what one would expect. Yes, Gov Palin Gods ways are not your ways…..

  3. broussca says:

Palin needs to take a deep breath and go see the movie, Religulous. Maybe she will learn something. Her God only loves smalltown Americans (make that SOME small town Americans; I’m from a very small town, am a middle-aged white woman and will vote for Obama, so her God doesn’t love me). God doesn’t have anything to do with her lack of qualification for the Vice Presidency. I hope (and pray) that she doesn’t have the chance to put our country in jeopardy.

  4. lw-MN says:

“And it also strengthens my faith because I know at the end of the day putting this in God’s hands, the right thing for America will be done, at the end of the day on Nov. 4.”
    Sarah Palin

If you actually read this quote, she doesn’t say that if John McCain is elected, she says;”….I know at the end of the day putting this in God’s hands, the right thing for America will be done, at the end of the day on Nov. 4.”

GOD is in control no matter who is elected. If you read your Bible, you’ll see that through out the ages there have been good leaders and bad leaders. I, like Gov. Palin believe that it is all in GOD’s hands and that GOD is in control!

  5. Makocee Wakem says:

Ultimatley the election is in Gods hands. This doesn’t mean he is for McCain or against Obama. He will decide what every path accomplishes is will. My faluire to understand is the attitude of the so-called christian. We should be aligning ourselfes to what God calls us to do. The Bible is against Abortion, Gay rights and anti-family values, yet that is exactly what the “middle aged white women” is voting for, Yet wait, she will adorn some excuse or reason why she is justified in doing so. Its not scriptual, but it is her reasoning so its “right”!

  6. God's Child says:

I believe when Gov. Palin states that she is putting it in God’s hands and that God (Our Heavenly Father) will do the right thing for America. If you are a true christian, you understand what she means. God is not republican or democrat, but God allows us to “choose”, and he does allow us to choose the wrong person, only to show us what a foolish mistake we made. And we know that we made a foolish mistake because we will suffer for our mistake. And when we suffer we all naturally turn to God to help us, which is what God wants us to do, Turn to Him. So, please, here is a Vice President that shows her Trust in God and you turn around and twist her words. I will vote for her, God always blesses a nation that honors him first and than all else follows. Our money comes last, remember, money is the root of all evil. And God just showed us that, the Democrats refused and ignored the Greedy Lenders (UnMoral) and they allowed our economy to fail. So just goes to show if you take Morals first, Blessing follows, No Morals, Greed and Evil follows. Which one would you pick?

  7. Elizabeth says:

Thanks for backing Sarah Palin’s words! She knows that God is in ultimate control and that’s where her trust rests.

  8. Laura says:

Okay, all you Palin bashers need to take a deep breath. She did NOT say that G-d only loves conservatives or whites or small-town Americans. If Obama wins, that is G-d’s will. If McCain wins, the same and yes, he can and often does intervene. We do not see the whole picture so please, all of you just calm down and keep in mind that whatever happens in November, happens for a reason.

  9. sven says:

Rubin: I know that you can easily infer all of what you said, but you nitice that she didnt say what YOU said…YOU said thats what she meant or by begging the questions you made you infer thats what she thinks or what we think if we happen to be Christian or agree with her personal view that “God will do the right thing…its in His hands”. It amazes me constantly that the left is the one who claims to have a monopoly on “open mindedness” and fairness, but its constantly on display that its the exact opposite. If you espouse a belief in God, particularly Christianity, you are mocked, attacked, lied about, and made an attempt to shut out and shut down any and all discussion. The hatred that flows through the veins and words of such people is amazing. I guess it shouldnt be all that surprising since thats the way its always been from the beginning of time–darkness hates light and Jesus promised this is indeed what will happen. Its sad, but just as Christ prayed for those who were killing him on the cross (which in case you try to twist and say its being anti-semitic, its not…we ALL are responsible for Christ’s death when you look at it from the spiritual realm since if you look at the message of Christ as being he dies for ALL of our sins, not just the ones literally hanging him on the cross)…His prayer extends to all of us and we in turn pray and indeed “rest in God’s hands and trust Him” which is all Palin was expressing. On a side note, if you indeed believe God is in control then of course God allowed and orchestrated every leader who ends up being in power, or you could say He uses ALL situations to speak His love and truth thru many situations, including ones that seem bleak from one’s perspective. And that would go for either an Obama win or McCain win (the opposite side would look at it as bleak but there is something ot be gained or learned thru the process).

  10. JOHN says:

WHOSE TO SAY GOD HAVEN’T ALREADY SPOKEN???????

  11. merci says:

Sarah Palin is right, God is always in control. It doesn’t matter who wins, something is very true, God takes care of His children.

  12. believer says:

Gov. Palin was not saying that God was on the Republican side or the Democratic side. She meant that He is in control. We need not be fearful, no matter what the outcome is.

  13. DogFather says:

“And it also strengthens my faith because I know at the end of the day putting this in God’s hands, the right thing for America will be done, at the end of the day on Nov. 4.”

Well, I reckon she’s saying that she and John have already given up hope of winning.

  14. TINA PEREZ says:

In the book of Isaiah 64:8 reads “O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we ALL are the work of thy hand.” Some of us choose to follow the Lord and some choose not too. That’s a choice. Sarah chooses to follow the Lord and how do I know that because the Bible tells us that we will be known by our fruits and Sarah’s fruits are obvious. It’s okay if you don’t like Sarah, we are not always going to like everyone we meet or cross path with but I believe if you would meet Sarah I can guarantee you will like her. She’s very intilegent. warm, soft hearted, caring, down to earth, beautiful on the inside as well as the outside so give her a break she is going to make a great VP! I speak that with confidence. COLORADO HISPANIC WOMEN LOVE YOU SARAH!

  15. Celtic says:

She didn’t say she believes God will make McCain/Palin win the election. She said it is all in God’s hands. There is a difference, and Christians know what she means. What she means is, God’s will can sometimes confound us. We trust in his wisdom. If he allows this evil man, Obama, who supports horrors like partial-birth abortion to become elected, we have to trust that the Lord will ultimately bring good out of it. I realize you must not be people of faith, but for those of us who are, we knew exactly what she was saying.

  16. Taylor says:

Yes…Gov Palin is right God is in control. So why isn’t she letting God control her actions when she speaks such venom against Obama or when she lies.

I pray that she understands that she is accountable for her actions as a Christian and how she is letting this VP thing go to her head and influence her.

  17. Kay says:

    I, too, am God’s Child…and I love what God’s Child wrote above.

When we trust in God, that means we put ourselves in “neutral” and allow Him to make the ultimate decision, so we can have peace of mind and not fret.

We humans have free choice…and when we exercise that choice, we often make mistakes. But, when we do what we believe God is leading us to do BASED on what He says in the Bible, we can pretty much know the right way to go. God would not lead us to do something that is against His Word.

I have found in my 60 years that at the end of the day after I’ve become all wound up and upset at the condition of the world, I can pray before I go to sleep and say, God, I know you love me more than I love myself. You love the world so much you sent your only Son to die for us all…so I feel I can safely put everything that matters into Your capable hands.

    God bless America.

I’m voting for McCain/Sarah, because the way Obama believes about abortion and personal freedom doesn’t match up with God’s word. Jesus died so that we could have life and have it more abundantly…He believes in life. So, do I.

  18. Chuck says:

God’s Child: I agree that what Gov. Palin says is accurate. It is in God’s hands. We all better hope it is anyhow.
However, it is not money that is the root of all evil, but the LOVE of money.
You are on the right path though.
I think this race is a lot close than the media will let on. We shall see on 11/4

  19. Tom says:

Yes..God does place leaders in place according to Daniel 2:21
    He changes times and seasons;
he sets up kings and deposes them.
He gives wisdom to the wise
    and knowledge to the discerning.

He also instructs us to obey those leaders in Hebrews 13:17
Obey your leaders and submit to their authority.
They keep watch over you as men who must give an account.

God knows who will lead us, and that leader will be accountable for their watch.

  20. Don says:

Daniel 2:21He removes kings and sets others on their thrones.
What Sarah Palin said is correct — God will do what He wants according to what He has in His plans for America. Prayer can change that.

  21. The mockers come out against Palin even though all she is saying is that the election is in God’s hands no matter who or what factors are thrown into the race. What is so hard to accept about that? Stop trying to turn everything she says into something negative or exclusive..The press is doing a good enough of a job with that already.

  22. tucker pink says:

amen sarah i agree with you 100%

  23. lw-MN says:

    JOHN
WHOSE TO SAY GOD HAVEN’T ALREADY SPOKEN???????
    **********************************************
He has to me, through scripture…that is why I am voting for John McCain and Sarah Palin.

Until we the Church understands that it is commanded of us, not the Government, to ‘take care of the least of these’…, we will continue to lean into the Government instead of GOD.

We have many lessons to learn and we are all a work in process, thank GOD (literally) for his unconditional Love, Grace and Mercy.

  24. Brian says:

The Bible is against abortion, gay-rights and anti-family values. The Bible is also against promoting business greed, killing innocent families for oil, and withholding mercy to the poor.

If government is responsible for the first three moral issues why is not government responsible for the last three?

I believe that if the Bible is applied equally across the entire Republican platform and the entire Democratic platform you will find that both fall short of the glory of God. Therefore, to imply one party is morally better than the other party it means you are prioritizing sins. All sin is equally sin. What is sin? It separates you from God. Prioritizing sins is a mechanism created by man to prove one person is better than another person.

Therefore, to imply that God endorses a political party means God endorses their sins, too. Implying that God endorses the Republican party or the Democratic party is blasphemy. God is God alone and subscribes to no organization created by man. That includes political systems or churches. The only way to gain favor with God, one way that is equal for everybody, that is through Jesus. Period. Looking to a political party to draw us closer to God will never work.

  25. Kay says:

It’s a good thing Sarah “Esther” Palin has thick skin…

She does, because she was sent by God to be where she is right now, the VP nominee, and by the grace of God, she and McCain will win.

Sarah, your strength is in the Lord! The armies of ancient times were often supported by God’s angels in times of battle. He will bless this battle, too.

    It’s all in His hands.

Win or not, I am thankful to have learned about Sarah Palin!

  26. wankerman says:

Did anyone here read her response? She did not equate God doing the right thing with her getting elected.

It is so sad what this country has come to. No one knows how to read, they just digest video and march to the orders of the new Goebels (MSM). It’s no wonder we are ready to elect our first ever Marxist/Bigot as POTUS.

Oh he’s no Marxist Bigot you say? Well, just READ his book. His self admitted mentors, Frank Marshall, “rev.” Wright, that weird priest (name eludes me now) all espouse hate. Why would Obama chose these people as mentors? Why didn’t he run like hell from that church?

Would you vote for me if David Duke was my mentor? Damn, you people will believe anything. You get what you deserve.

  27. Deb says:

Sarah is right, God is in control. Even if we vote the wrong person in, God can still use them. Read the Bible, God can work through anyone He wants to. I lift prayers up to our Father for Sarah daily, for His protection, peace, guidance, wisdom, and His love. Every LEGAL voter should vote once and once only. I can’t believe all this mess Acorn has done.

  28. Kevin says:

What is it about God that frightens so many of you? Our Country was founded on “God.” Why is it not appropriate for Sarah Palin to say that at the end of the day, it is in God’s hands. You people have taken prayer from our schools, tossed the pledge of allegiance, and replaced it with vile contempt for the constitution, school shootings, and disrespect for the educational process. You fear God and the Constitution. You fear the call to a society that is blessed by the hand of God and the good work of people like Sarah Palin. You hold to the cruel vitriol of an Obama church along with the social/marxist ideals that he holds as his God. At the end of the day, you choose your Messiah; A man that holds the coronation to be his party’s candidate in a stadium surrounded by Roman columns. Not in God’s hands, but in the hands of your Emperor you place your faith. Good luck to you. I will place my faith in the hands of the God you fear, and support the humble woman who does the same.

  29. Joe says:

    How about this:

There is no god. And if there were, don’t you all think he would have much better things to do than rig an election?

It’s laughable, alarming and terribly sad that people in this day and age still believe that there is a god. Is it simply not excusable any more to suggest that something will or will not happen because of god.

Have any of you Christians ever stopped for even one second to think about just how ridiculous the whole thing is?

  30. Tom says:

Brian….you are correct. But we must choose one or the other. We are all sinners, as we know, and yes, we all fall short.

I cannot support a party or candidate that supports a position thatadamantly opposes scripture, most notably with the destruction of unborn infants knitted by God’s hands, and the forced acceptance of homosexuality as “normal”.

All sin, both small and great in our eyes is SIN to God…but we are not God. We must align ourselves where we feel the position is closer to where we feel God is magnified.

  31. Marie says:

I agree with what Gov. Palin said, and after reading through the previous responses I think Christians understand that she is not saying God is a Republican or Democrat, but she is not fearful, but trusting that God is in control of the outcome and her life won’t be over if they don’t win…because she understands this Biblical principal.

I think with this presidental race we have seen two candidates who in some ways have been very clear voices of a “true” Christian in their actions and compassion for others. I think some are responding in hate and anger, because they also reject Jesus. Jesus said we shouldn’t be surprised when people reject us, because they rejected him first. But on the other hand, I think many people are getting a glimpse of not “right wing hate” but true Christian values being expressed boldly maybe for the first time in a long time. I have talked to several nonChristians who really have liked Gov. Huckabee and Gov. Palin, because they have never seen Christians talk like this. They have said this is a side of Christianity they aren’t familiar with….sad.

God will hold our nation accountable with the choices we as a nation make this November.

  32. mellet says:

Amen ! to what she said. she has good faith and trust in HIM.
God is always in control to what we say and do. We are in a battle between flesh over flesh , w/ the economic crisis, it created fear, anger, panic etc. God has no record of such crisis in HIS kingdom. We must win the battle in humility using God’s tactics. God already knows who will be HIS child and that child knows his master well. Let’s hold on tight w/ the baton of faith
and pass it on from one generation to the next.

  33. celeste says:

All the prayer in the world cannot win McCain the election. A moral compass for the man. His family values include cheating on his first wife after she waited for him to return from the war, nevermind him calling his second wife the c word in front of reporters. What a great American family man he is! Having women pay for their own rape kits is the kind of support Palin provides and according to the polls and the early voters thus far, it looks like the real family men will be in charge of our country! I’m sure Bristol is enjoying all this unsupervised time to have more unprotected, premarital sex. God’s hands are tied on this one folks…..

  34. ykceb says:

If McCain wins, God will be glorified. If Obama wins, God will be glorified. Sooner or later we will all face Him so before you vote you should ask Him for guidance to make sure you’re in His will. This may make you think I am saying He is this big ogre but think about it, we will all die sooner or later no matter what science says or what we can afford, “Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess…” (Isa 45:23). If there is no God then we have nothing to worry about but if there is?

  35. J.D. says:

As an aetheist, I can not see how Christans believe that you actually get a choice in your vote…According to your religion, everything that happens is for a reason and is part of God’s plan. IE, no matter how much you may want something through your own free-will, you will not be able to make that choice if it is not part of God’s plan. Therefore, no matter who the country wants as a president, we have no say because God is going to make that choice for us. Is this correct?

  36. Kay says:

One last comment before I go to work…

When one allows God His choice by “putting it all in His hands”, that is the same thing as “seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness”, and He will “add all these things unto you” (Matthew 6:33).

Read Psalms 37 when you get the chance. Fret not thyself…

  37. NelsonBig says:

Hey Republicans! Sarah just said it’s in “god’s” hands. So, by that rationale, go ahead and stay home. Don’t worry. He’s got it.

  38. John says:

29 Joe is correct. There is no god, at least no personal god, and the bible is no different than any other 2500 year old book written by men. Those of us who feel this way have no interest in your theocratic candidate.

  39. ykceb says:

J.D. God gives you a choice to accept Him or not and you have your whole life to decide…that is the only choice that counts. Choose wisely and if you choose Him He’ll guide you. If not you’re on your own…a scary thought.

  40. Raelene says:

I was blessed by what Sarah Palin said in this interview with Mr. Dobson. All of us Christians know that this election is in God’s hands and that His will be done. I think the ones who attack Sarah are just afraid because she does have Godly morals and values. They are afraid of someone who will stand up for their faith and beliefs. The country has gotten so involved in do what feels good that they strike out at the ones who stand on their faith. No matter who wins this election it is all in God’s majestic plan for this world. She never said it would be McCain/Palin, she said God will do the right thing for America and God willing that is McCain/Palin, but if it is not He will take care of the ones who believe. Thank you Sarah for your awesome straight talk and standing on what you know is right.

  41. Marcelo says:

Spiritual warfare – thousands of evil people attacking SP viciously. Liberals are afraid of the sure power she will have in the White House against their sinful agenda. Who is behind all this? SATAN my friends, SATAN!!!
Pray that God will remove the veil from the eyes of His people. If Christians go vote massively, Obama is over.

Separation of church and state – I’m all for it! The problem? A secular government doing all in its power to interfere with the work of the church. That is REALITY and that is what SATAN wants! Just look at most actions by Dem governments and SUP Court decisions in the past 30 years.

OPEN YOUR EYES, please. Pray for McCain/SP victory on Nov 4!

  42. JF says:

Those who do not believe in anything will ultimately believe anything.

Why are you so scared of that which you cannot explain? And people of faith?

(sigh) Such small minded individuals. Where do you get your value system? Or do you not have any?

  43. John says:

    PS – 41 Marcelo – there’s no SATAN either.

  44. NelsonBig says:

At God’s instructions, the Israelites “utterly destroyed the men, women, and the little ones” leaving “none to remain.” 2:33-36

Yup. Nice god you have there.

  45. Matt says:

I am a Christian, and believe in God and Jesus. I am also gay. I have spent many many many years praying and contemplating what that means. I finally realized that God loves me for who I am and what I can give to others. I am not a hypocrite, nor am I judgemental.

Sarah Palin scares me!!! She does not speak for my God. She is highly judgemental, and will only “tolerate” those who disagree with her. You “tolerate” the flu, not other human beings. I for one, am scared to death that she could one day be the leader of our country.

I do not understand how just because she is a Christian, you actually think she has the intelligence to lead our country? Again, I am not passing judgement, but stating her own words! I for one, believe God will always see us through, and he LOVES all of us, not just the ones Sarah Palin Likes!

  46. NelsonBig says:

Deuteronomy 2:33-36: At God’s instructions, the Israelites “utterly destroyed the men, women, and the little ones” leaving “none to remain.”

  47. YC says:

It really makes me sad and upset when you equate Christianity with being Republican. So narrowminded.

  48. Tom says:

    JD

Welcome to the mystery of faith. God knows…we do not. God instructs us to believe, confess, pray, witness, lead, follow, etc.
We are the tools in His hands, and He chooses to love us and use us.

We accept by faith, and trust and hope according to His word. Until God moves in my heart, or yours, this appears to be folly.
But oh, what a difference as a child of God!

God loves you, and cares more for about a relationship with you than He does who will be president.

  49. ykceb says:

Everyone who is blogging here who is a Christian let me just say I agree with you in prayer on this matter. If you are Christian then you understand EXACTLY what I’m talking about. If not…(Psalm 14:1)

  50. Dear christians,

If Obama wins this election will you finally accept that there is no god? I’m sure the GOP is praying a lot harder than the Democrats are, so this should give us an accurate idea of what God wants. Of course God would want McCain/Palin.

And…if McCain wins I’ll agree to ignore all common sense, reality and science like you have and become a chrisitan.

    Do we have a deal?

  51. Kay says:

    Dear Celeste…

    God forgives.

  52. Jay says:

“29 Joe is correct. There is no god, at least no personal god, and the bible is no different than any other 2500 year old book written by men. Those of us who feel this way have no interest in your theocratic candidate.”

Pfffft… are you kidding me? Do you have proof there is no God?

Besides, wasn’t this country founded on religious freedom?

Separation of Church and State doesn’t mean the expulsion of religion from it’s State Members. In most cases, people lead their lives according to their core value system; in Sarah’s case it happens to be Christianity.

  53. John says:

50 Joe – Don’t you see? No matter what happens, the fundies can always claim that it’s god’s will. That way, they’re never wrong.

  54. NelsonBig says:

For #45 Matt: 1 Kings 14:24 – And there were also sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.

Leviticus 18:22 – Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

Leviticus 20:13 – If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Your god doesn’t like you very much and isn’t as tolerant as you think. Dump the fairy tales and live scientifically. You’ll be much happier.

  55. Raelene says:

    Joe,

Without God there would be no common sense, reality, or science. On your deal I do hope McCain wins, then if you are serious and ask God into your heart the angels will rejoice for one lost soul saved.

  56. Matt says:

Thanks Nelson, you have just prove to me that there are hate mongers in society! I will answer to God one day, not you! Thats all the comment you get from me.

  57. John says:

    52 Jay –

Don’t you know that it’s impossible to prove a negative? If you can give me one reason to believe in a personal god, do it. And quoting the bible is meaningless.

Freedom of religion includes freedom from religion. Nothing in the constitution says we have to believe in any god.

If Sarah wants to live life as a christian, that’s fine with me as long as she doen’t try to make me do the same thing. Just don’t expect me to be impressed.

The difference between us is I don’t care what Sarah does as long as it doesn’t affect me. You, on the other hand, do nothing but tell other people how to live their lives.

  58. NelsonBig says:

Leviticus 15:19 – And if a woman have an issue, and her issue in her flesh be blood, she shall be put apart seven days: and whosoever toucheth her shall be unclean until the even.

God doesn’t like women. They menstruate and are dirty. Sorry Palin.

  59. Dan says:

Is it not interesting how so many non-beleivers can read so much into one christians comments about faith and God. It is such a shame that those who hear decent people speak of God and do not share those beleifs, would prefer to attack these decent people rather than those who opening attack us each day abroad. I am proud of those christians that stand up for a faith that is getting outnumbered today. We always heard this day would come but most of us just could not beleive it would. Palin stands for the values that built this country…is that something to hate? I guess if one made a mistake in their life and killed their unborn child…they likely have a hard time listening to anyone who speaks on behalf of that lost little kid…thats where the hate is coming from. Cant face their own terrible nightmare.

  60. am105889 says:

    J.D.
As a Christian, the choice we all have is the free-will to obey the word of God or not…quite frankly, that is everyone’s (even atheists’) choice in everything life throws at them and what we will be judged against when our day comes.

    I like what Kay says…

We humans have free choice…and when we exercise that choice, we often make mistakes. But, when we do what we believe God is leading us to do BASED on what He says in the Bible, we can pretty much know the right way to go. God would not lead us to do something that is against His Word.

42 JF: Why won’t you accept what has been scientifically researched and debunked thousands of times? It’s a PROVEN FACT that the story of Jesus is not an original one. Look up Horus. If anyone is “small minded”, it’s you my friend.

  63. NelsonBig says:

53 John: Agreed. Such a freakin’ cop out.

  64. canada says:

I would consider myself a rational individual (canadian).
I am amazed by the extreme religious addiction many
Americans seem to be suffering from,
and how much of a role their imaginary father figure plays in this election.

  65. Dan says:

Nelsontiny….EXACTLY what he said you would say! Praise the Lord for warning us of your position so many many years ago…he’s AMAZING!

  66. Babs says:

There is a God. He sent his Son Jesus to pay for our sins.

Please read John 3:16. I know you all have heard all this before, but God really is in control of everything inspite of what man may do.

We really are in the end times. Accept Christ’s forgiveness and love today so you don’t face an eternity in the everylasting lake of fire.

I am not a crazy religious nut! Just a forgiven sinner.

I thank God everyday that we still have a country where we can worship him in spirit and truth.

I thank God everyday that we still have a country where those who don’t believe in God can choose not too.

Those of you who know the Lord as your personal savior keep praying for our country and especially our congress, courts and of course our new president (whomever he will be.) They all need our prayers because we have so many nations on this earth who want to do us harm.

  67. yvonne says:

A lot of you are making statements when you are not looking at the big picture at all. First of all, it is not God. When Jesus was resurrected all the power in Heaven and on Earth was given to the Son. We were given the right to make choices, but he already knew the choice we were going to make before it was even made. The sad part is that Religion is being brought into a system that is corrupt and divided. Every thing that is divided cannot stand. My vote is for Jesus. He is the only one that can help. But If you go to Revelations you will understand that man’s time is over is God’s time now!!!!!!!!!! I know this is not going to get posted, but I have expressed my thoughts anyway.

  68. NelsonBig says:

2 Samuel 12:14 – Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die.

    Looks like god is pro-choice.

Take a walk in the new Testament for a while… say the gospel of John……then paste something…..but look out, God may paste something in your heart, that changes your life.

  70. John says:

    64 Canada

These are the people who gave us (and the world) eight years of George Bush. It doesn’t matter how unqualified someone is, they will vote for them as long as they’re “christian.” Palin is the ultimate example of this.

  71. NelsonBig says:

66 Dan: LMAO! NelsonTiny…I get it!! HA HA HA! Dude. Really? You don’t see it? Haven’t you seen the same scene in like 50 movies? It’s the perfect way to keep you all in line!

Oh, they’re going to try to talk bad about me. But follow me blindly and you’ll see that I’m right. Dude. Have you spoken to any Scientologists lately? SAME ARGUMENT! It’s baseless and ignorant.

Hey, I’m quoting the bible here. I’m not making any of this up. Isn’t the bible your god’s words?

  72. Jesse London says:

You are all too wrapped up in the theological debate and you are missing the point.

When she said the outcome was in God’s hands, she was conceding that it was no longer in the hands of McCain and his handlers.

In other words, she knows it’s over.

Best news I’ve seen all day!

  73. AGD says:

I am a Christian, but I TOTALLY see how people get sick of us. I’m divorced, had an abortion, have gay family members (that I love very much), and have experienced the grace and mercy of God. Until you truly experience the mercy of God, you have no idea what I’m talking about. I’ve purposed in my heart not to be a “weirdo” Christian. To those who feel the same know what I’m talking about. I don’t know who said this, but this sums up my thoughts “what we do speaks so loud that people don’t hear what we say.” We better walk the talk and get the “plank” out of our own eye.

  74. NelsonBig says:

70 Tom: New Testament, Old Testament. Same bible, no? God hates gays, women, he kills babies, he allows polygamy, he allows (and encourages) genocide, he loves the smell of burning flesh. IT’S ALL IN THE BIBLE! I’m not making any of it up.

  75. Dan says:

What I dont understand is the hatred against the christian religion…read the ten comandments…would you prefer Christianity to be like the extreme islamic teachings? Whats wrong with people of faith studying about forgiveness. Your time could be spent focused on stopping other religious beliefs that say we should all be eliminated. THink how much stronger we could be as a nation if we put our differences in religion aside and focused on those who really want to kill us or take us over. You all are fighting and trying to discredit the wrong people…oh and by the way, Obama says he is a Christian…so why are you not attacking him?..True liberals would vote for their candidate regardless of what he/she stands for or has done- just keep the handouts coming and support the special interest such as men who actually get turned on by his boyfriends @$#hole

  76. GreenpointGuy says:

    God kills children, too!:

2 Kings 2:23-24 (King James Version)
    King James Version (KJV)

23And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.

24And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

  77. Dan says:

  78. Ryan says:

Tell me about this new faith called science that you say will make me much happier. I have had many questions for this almighty SCIENCE that can’t be answered. I know that multiple cultures have since the beginning of man believed in a GOD…Are they all wrong? Is this modern era the only correct time in man’s history? Does Science change? Have the priests or Scientists ever been wrong? Has Science ever started wars (Imperial and Nazi Germany). This science is amazing and it be their for me when the odds are against me? Followers of this new faith please tell me more. You have tremendous faith to believe against the vast majority of all human beliefs from the beginning to present day. I applaud your faith in this science. I’m sure it will make me happier.

  79. Ken says:

You liberals always try to twist and change what anyone says. What Gov. Palin was saying is GOD is in control no matter who wins the election. GOD has always been in control and always will be. It is God’s world and we are his children. I am amazed by the left wing media and liberals who confess and presume to be so forgiving, understanding and godly. However, it appears that liberals and the left wing media are always the first ones to throw stones and cast judgments on people. You liberals have been misled about your candidate, his beliefs, his strengths (none), weaknesses (many), and experiences (none). If he (Obama) is elected, only God’s undying love and compassion will get America through these times because Obama is not the person who needs to be our next president (commander-in-chief) of our nation. But only God can get us through even our dark days, if there is an Obama administration.

  80. ceinscottsdale says:

    WWJD? He’d vote Obama too.

  81. NelsonBig says:

Hey god people! Sarah just said it’s in “god’s” hands. So, by that rationale, go ahead and stay home on election day. Don’t worry. He’s got it.

  82. T says:

    Dear God people:

Dobson said pubically that he is not voting for McCain.
Dobson said pubically he is praying for a miracle in this election that McCain/Palin win.

What do you make of this?

  83. John says:

    78 Dan

Assuming your comment was directed at Nelsonbig –

Are you saying that the Old Testament is no longer considered the true word of god?

  84. NelsonBig says:

76 Dan: News flash. Your god is a jealous god and doesn’t want any other gods to be worshiped. Yours is just as guilty.

  85. Brian says:

God only asks us to do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with Him.

  86. NelsonBig says:

83 T: Holy hell! Did we just post “god people” at exactly the same time? Must be a sign. Bring on the lightning.

  87. John says:

    Serious question to anyone –

There have been many references to god’s plan, god’s will, etc in this thread. How do you reconcile the concept of free will and the concept of a divine plan? Can man ever do anything to change god’s plan? If not, how can he have free will?

  88. GreenpointGuy says:

76 Dan: your post spouts forgiveness and hatred of gays in the same paragraph…and you wonder why “liberals” think the religious are duplicitous?

  89. John says:

    86 Brian

You don’t have to be a christian to agree with that. Well, maybe not the last part.

  90. Max Castle says:

Not all Christians are Republican and not all Republicans are Christian. Obama has been a church member for decades while McCain has no significant church record to speak of. I think it’s amazing that Christians can turn against their own based on these knee-jerk wedge issues designed by Republicans to trick the faithful into voting against their own best interests.

What has Bush ever done for the Christian community besides give us a bad name? He put us in his pocket just long enough to win two elections, and then BAM, it’s back to business as usual. What do you think McCain is going to do? McCain hasn’t even had a conversion experience. He never talks about God because he doesn’t know what to say.

The arrogance of these pastors is astonishing. Let’s face it, God doesn’t play by our rules and it’s beyond reason to ask God to intervene in this election. The only thing we can ask for is that our next leader will be wise and fair.

Don’t forget that Bush “prayed” for guidance before invading Iraq. So either God was wrong (not likely) or Bush was seriously deceived. I’m banking on the latter…

  91. NelsonBig says:

78 Dan: I have! That’s how I know it’s obscenely ridiculous. I just like pointing out it’s utter absurdities.

  92. Nelda says:

Have any of you though that Obama winning may be in God’s plan. You know that America is not a major player in the end times. God may be using Obama to take America down. This may be God’s plan to set us up for his second comming. What ever happens God is in control.

  93. Ryan says:

All hail Science and it’s all powerful Darwin the the founder of World Wars I and II. Curse all those of faith. Persecute them and silence them. Wow wasn’t that what Hitler did? Hey wasn’t Hitler a Darwinist?
About those bears eating the kids…they shouldn’t have been making fun of an old man. Sometimes life isn’t fair and a all powerful all knowing being found it appropriate that a bear eat them.
I know that many atheists have a hard time swallowing the idea that something may exist that is greater than them.
In my life I’ve found most (not all) atheists are ego maniacs who are mad at God because life isn’t fair. If it was up to atheists all Christians would be sent to the furnaces and than they could live in their paradise free of war.
As mentioned earlier Religion isn’t the cause of all wars or even most wars. Jealous pride and overpowering egos are generally the cause.
Republican or Democrat who cares we’re all Americans. I’m tired of one side blaming another. From what I read here it would appear a woman who just happens to run for VP wants to be a Christian. This is followed by a bunch of hate filled rants by so called open minded Democrats.
I must admit I found Matt’s thoughts very interesting.
YES THERE ARE ARE WRITINGS SIMILAR TO THE NEW TESTAMENT AND THE STORY OF JESUS. MAN KNEW LONG AGO THROUGH PROPHECY ABOUT A MESSIAH. It takes alot of faith to believe in nothing.
I support people of all faiths and even those who have doubt. They seem very intelligent and deeply rooted in HISTORY. I can’t find respect for most (not all) atheists.

  94. geo says:

Governor Palin is speaking in plain and open terms about the sovereignty of God. Israel, had good and bad kings. God worked through all of them to bring about His purposes.

What is alarming to me is in 2006, the New Hampshire newspaper speaking about Obama said this, “The messiah comes to New Hampshire. This was before one primary was even waged. It is interesting that a muslim leader spoke of a “Christian” of 20 years or more as the Messiah. He said, “And when the Messiah speaks, the youth listen.”

Why for the first time in Presidential History is the word “Messiah” being used in relationship to the President of the United States?

Some of you would say it is just rhetoric, but in fact with the u-tube of young youth pledging their allegiance to Obama, saying Obama will bring us peace, prosperity, hope. Doesn’t that sound a little alarming to you?

I know you all hate George Bush, but are you letting your hatred of one man lead you to the arms of another, you might find even worse than the one you hate?

Why is it that in America we vote for the one who always telss us “what we want to hear, instead of the truth.” Our nation is in great danger no matter who is elected. The election is going to determine our outcome. The outcome for our nation is whether we stay true to God or the god of this world, who blind the eyes of those who is perishing.

I have never seen such hatred towards Christians. The media hates Sarah Palin with passion, why are they such bigots? Because they hate the God whose death on the cross who show us all dead in our sins and the need for a savior, who died for our sins. That is why they hate her. They worship their own god, themselves. The media is a disgrace to this nation.

They are the ones subverting this election for their lie after lie, and their failure to do any substanstive inquiry into the life of a Presidential candidate that can’t even produce his birth certificate. No inquiries, no searching into the roots of his life in Colorado, but they can go after Sarah for the RNC buying her family clothes. Pathetic!

Our nation is in great danger for the media is now controlled by the liars, and our liars and haters themselves. It is so clear to see the utter disdain they have McCain, the one they used to love. So you tell me, do you think most of us Americans are puppets and blind and cant see this.

Obama may win, but if he does not who is going to look preety foolish in the worlds eyes?

  95. al says:

If Jesus walked the earth today I think He would side with Rep. WHY? God hates the homosexual life style. God hates murdering our children. God hates lying, God hates greed, God hates sin and rebillion the true children of God cannot be librals because God has rules to follow and we follow them becuase we love Him want to live our lifes holly unto Him He love the sinner and mankind but he hates sin. Read the Bible.

  96. John says:

    95 Geo

If the media hates Palin, its because she’s totally unqualified to be VP, not because she’s christian.

  97. NelsonBig says:

94 Ryan: It’s not hate you’re getting from me. It’s frustration. The bible is VERY convenient in the sense that you can take any specific passage and use it as a crutch. When confronted on ANYTHING unexplainable, it’s always “God’s mysterious ways” or “God’s plan” or “We just don’t understand God’s methods”. Well, if something is so damned unreliable and unpredictable, why would you want it around anymore? I’ve know teenagers who are more reliable than this god.

Then, when I challenge you with something DIRECTLY QUOTED from the bible, you come back with just another passage; completely dismissing what I’ve just quoted.

    Bible = convenience.

  98. NelsonBig says:

96 al: Spoken like a true bible pushing bigot.

  99. NelsonBig says:

96 al: Except the murdering children part. God murders children in the bible. FACT.

  100. T says:

there is nothing written in the bible that wasn’t already written. the stories of the flood, virgin birth, miracles, resurrection… it was all written long before there was a bible, or a koran, or a golden tablet of the mormans.

why is this not a deal-breaker for you religious folk? you are following plagiarized fairy tales.

all you say is read the bible, read the bible, read the bible. but those stories are COPIED from previous religions.

Why do you keep fighting this well-established fact of human history?

I am very serious. I really want to know why you bury your heads in the sand to hide from documented truth.

  101. NelsonBig says:

BTW, I love how Fox linked this page, instead of the original posting ON CNN.

  102. John says:

    101T – To play devil’s advocate here:

Reasonable christians emphasize the ethical content of the bible, mostly found in the New Testament. They don’t take the stories as literal. Only the literalists have their heads in the sand.

  103. Lou says:

Hey super Christians: was God in control when the priests molested children?
And if he was, does that mean He thinks it’s OK to molest children?

Oh, and if God is in control of everything, then why did we make the decision to go to war? And if God is in control, then we don’t need to do anything about anything because God is in control.

Do you even know what you mean when you say, “God is in control”?

  104. dpt says:

God is in control of everthy! and appoints leaders according to his will and pleasure and He made clear to Nebuchadnezzar in the book of Daniel.

  105. Ryan says:

    T:
Humans have their interpretations of God. It’s obvious God revealed himself to man long ago. Don’t you find it strange that civilizations that have had absolutely zero contact with each other have had similar beliefs? It’s highly possible that it’s not plagarism. An almighty being revealed himself. This would explain why stories are similar. A perfect example would be the flood story. Prophecy! I recommend reading a book by a converted atheist called the Case for Christ. You don’t have to believe it. Free will is what makes LOVE possible.
I believe in Christ and God. I think God would be an all powerful, all knowing Leader. What a perfect example of leadership. He sacraficed his own life for his people and decided to live amongst them as a poor carpenter.
It takes alot of faith to not believe too.
Yes, I’m a Christian but It’s not my job to judge people of other faiths or sexualities. I’m not all powerful and all knowing so how could I possibly judge someone on those grounds?

  106. Brian says:

As a Christian I certainly agree with Sarah Palin that regardless of the outcome of the election God controls all things. I am voting for senator Obama how could I not in good conscience after the last 8 years of George Bush. We live in very serious times and we need smart, intelligent and rational people in charge of the government. IMO that person is Barack Obama. It may have been John McCain had he been serious about his VP Candidate. Its time to get serious people. We need a thinker and communicator that can reach a broad range of people as the President. Sarah Palin is a carbon copy of George Bush. I would challenge other Christians to thin more broadly about the issues that face us. We should not be eliminating a candidate simply because they believe a woman has a right to chose. Why do you all get so continually fooled by the rights playing to those issues. As Christians don’t we have concern about much broader issues than that and gay marriages. I am not looking for my leaders to legislate those issues. Those are issues that I team in my community and family and circle of friends and love ones. Where are our moral values for the mistake that was the Iraq war. How many Americans and Iraqis died because of this horrible mistake? Why no moral or Christian outrage about that? Why no outrage about the response to Hurricane Katrina? What about the millions of people that are hungry in this country and go without education? Where is the outrage that 50% of high schoolers and not finishing school in many of our communities? Where is the outrage that so many of our Christian leaders on the right are closeted homosexuals? Why aren’t we holding them accountable while at the sametime seemingly abandoning our homosexual brothers and sisters… unlike what Jesus would do. He calls us to reach back and help them. educate them in the word. All of this complaining about taxes and redistribution of wealth when jesus said “give it all away.. to the Lord!”

Kay wrote above that she is not voting for Barack Obama because of his stance of Abortion. I would assume you voted for Bush based on the same issue. I would ask you what exactly do you think will change if Obama is President? We must be smarter and broaden out thinking beyond issues that alienate us. Or that get people riled up. Surely being a Christian is about more than being against Abortion or Gay marriage. I feel like the Republican party has totally hijacked Christianity for many people in this county. We all need to just get our Bibles out and pray and really understand what being a Christian is all about

  107. Say it.

Jesus, if you’re real, I invite you into my life. I am sorry for my sins. Please be my Lord and Savior.

    That’s all.

  108. NelsonBig says:

103 John: Thank you for proving my point (post 98).

  109. T says:

    john (103)

i’m not buying that at all.
christians believe in the virgin birth and the resurection (that’s the definition of CHRISTian).

so i’m still waiting for a real answer.

  110. J.D. says:

88 John: See my post at 35. That is the same point I am making. If everything is done according to God’s plan, and everything happens for a reason that only God knows, then we would have no free will. We are robots that God is controlling. If we do have complete free will, then nothing is done for a reason according to God’s plan. This is a big contradiction that Christan’s don’t explain. They use the “God’s plan” to try and justify anything bad that happened, and use the idea of free-will to cast judgement onto the actions of others.

  111. Ryan says:

    Nelsonbig:

I know hate. Frustration leads to hate. You are hating and ridiculing. I’d like to take a page from the far left’s book of reasoning. IF YOU DON”T LIKE IT TURN THE PAGE! Why are you frustrated by Christians. If you don’t like what they have to say ignore them. Why do you have to ridicule? You are persecuting Christians, Muslims, Jews, Siekhs, Pagans and people of all faiths. Calm down Hatred will eat you alive.

  112. John says:

    105 dpt (and others) –

Hint – you would have better luck with some of us by using arguments that don’t rely on the bible.

  113. NelsonBig says:

103 John: But god hearing everyone speak at the same time, a talking snake, a talking bush, a ghost impregnating a woman, an ark that held ALL species of animals, resurrection, water into wine, walking on water, THOSE WE CAN TAKE LITERALLY.

    I see. Good point.

  114. NelsonBig says:

112 Ryan: Again, I don’t hate. I can’t just ignore you because the justice system I live by is influenced by you. Your god is on our money, our laws, our freakin’ Pledge of Allegiance. It’d be nice to ignore you. But, fear of (many of) your extreme beliefs is why I can’t.

  115. T says:

Ryan, i suggest you are making up excuses for believing in something that IS plagiarism.

    Only the names changed.

As for your flood item, well that did happen. all around the world sea levels have risen throughout history. but that certainly doesn’t mean that i would buy into a fairy tale that a man built a boat in the middle east and saved two of every animal (including those that didn’t live in his neck of the woods.)

so, please someone, tell me why you believe in a copied set of stories.

  116. Ryan says:

Um NelsonBig an all powerful creator of a universe could make it possible. If there is a God he would be able to accomplish the impossible. He did create a universe I’m sure he could accomplish tasks that seem far fetched to a simple human mind.

Relax pal what is the threat? The Christians arn’t coming to get you! It would appear that you’re conducting some type of missionary mission to convert Christians and believers to your all powerful faith of science.

The Romans couldn’t burn us out of existence and the Nazis couldn’t destroy us by destroying us at our roots. We’re not going anywhere.

  117. Jan says:

Yes, I believe that God will be in charge of the election. This is my prayer, but I believe that Obama is on God’s side. The main message of Jesus was brotherly love.
How can a party claim to be “pro-life” and be so anxiously to go to war to kill, often the innocent.
God is not a Republican or a Democrat, a Baptist or Methodist. We do not create God in our own image. The magnificent Creator of all created us.
As for the elimination of gay rights, recently I heard the following statistic in a documentary. 1 in 2000 are born what is now being called “middle-sexed”. These individuals have both female and male genitalia, and their sex is physically undetermined by human eye at birth. Often the doctor may choose one sex or the other surgically for an infant or young child.
A dear friend of mine was born this way.
    God created by friend.
Since a “middle-sexed” person is created by God showing physical characteristics of both sexes, whoever a middle-sexed person chooses to date, he/she is in a same-sex marriage. This doesn’t even consider those individuals with other biological implications in their sexual-orientation decisions.
Shouldn’t we leave such issues between the individual and God instead of judging.
What happened to the verse, judge not that ye be not judged.
Whatever happened to teaching the Sermon on the Mount or the only two Great Commandments Jesus taught.
If Jesus came back today, I believe he would cry when he was how petty our churches and theologies have become.

  118. NelsonBig says:

118 Jan: Now you are a shining example of why I can’t be upset with ALL religious folks.

  119. Ryan says:

    T:

It’s better than believing in nothing or something that changes as soon as another scientist has a better idea. HOWEVER why do other cultures and civiliations say that a man took animals into a great canoe? Hmmmm. I like living my life knowing that something greater than me loves my family and is their when I need him. I haven’t always gotten my way through prayer and God doesn’t always answer prayer the way we want. I’ve found that a couple decades later I can plainly see why things weren’t answered the way I wished. I could have just gone out and done things my own way ( I have free will) but I choose to follow God.

I highly recommend you read the book the Case For Christ. It was written by a Ivy League Lawyer, and Journalist who found Christianity by trying to prove it’s false. He wanted to convert his wife back to atheism and instead converted himself to Christianity. He wanted to shame Christian Scientists, Historians and Doctors. He obviously failed.

  120. DanTheMan says:

The election is decided by people’s votes. So in order for god to decide the election, he must be controlling the will of the people. Therefore, there is no free will. And of course, without free will, how can we be held accountable for our actions. Don’t blame me! god made me do it!

  121. surfdnet says:

    Brian (post #24),

I don’t normally post to these boards. I have been reading many many posts on all different sites (conservative and liberal) looking for a voice of reason, you my friend are truly led by the spirit. God Bless you and may we all come to the understanding the spirit as bestowed on you.

  122. NelsonBig says:

117 Ryan: Bush prayed to your god publicly on Iraq. We’ve killed numerous thousands of women and children there? Every time anyone is asked about the Iraq occupation, we get “God will lead us”. Well, he’s led us into occupying a sovereign nation and killing its people.

Who said your god created the universe? What about the other religions out there that claim the exact same thing? Why are you right and not them?

I’m not trying to burn you. I just want you out of the influence of the laws I abide by. When was the last time you had an atheist movement to teach counter religion? And don’t tell me science. It is proven fact and should be in schools, just like history (e.g. the Inquisition).

  123. Just because you say there is a god does not make it true. And just because there are a whole lot of you saying there is a god over and over does not make it true.

The only reason that christians in America are Chrsitians is because of where and when they were born. If you were born 3500 years ago in China, you wouldn’t have the beliefs you do today. If you were born 35 years ago in Egypt, you would not have the beliefs you do today.

But since you were most likely born here in the USA, you believe that god sent his only son, Jesus, to die for your sins.

Let’s say for example that from the time you were born, your family and friends told you there was a giant ham sandwich up in the sky. In addition to them telling you about this, there was also a book written telling the story of the ham sandwich that praised its greatness. Every week you would go to your local deli to worship this sandwich. You were told your whole life that to avoid an eternity of unspeakable evil, you would have to love this ham sandwich and believe that this ham sandwich was the answer to everlasting peace, love and happiness. Everyone you knew prayed to this ham sandwich.

No one had every heard or dreamed of the notion of god or Jesus. The almighty was a ham sandwich.

All of you who are Christians today would praise and honor this ham sandwich for the exact same reasons you praise god, Jesus and the virtues of Christianity.

Does believing in a ham sandwich mean that there really is a ham sandwich that is all-knowing and loves us? Does this ham sandwich exist just because you really believe it?

    No.

  124. NelsonBig says:

124 Joe: lol. In ham sandwich we trust.

  125. Ronnie says:

I am a Christian and I believe that when Sarah Palin says that “God will do the right thing on election day” she is saying that whether or not he chooses Barack Obama or John McCain as the next President of the United Sates the choice has already been made. God is all knowing and he knows what is best for our country. I think that if Barack Hussein Obama becomes the next president, it will quite possibly usher in some pretty chaotic times that will ultimately lead to the end times. If Barack Obama becomes president, it is because God has designed it to be that way.

  126. John Buettner says:

Sarah is right, ultimately the election is in the hands of God. I will spare you the approriate Biblical quotes, but it is within the teachings of the Bible.

If Obama wins, it is in Gods hands.

If McCain wins, it is in Gods hands.

That is all I am sure she meant.

  127. NelsonBig says:

126 Ronnie: You can’t help it can you? You have to include the middle name. Not that there’s anything to be worried about; but in the form you use it, it’s condescending and ignorant. Tell me, why would it be the end of times? What hard facts do you have? Or is this just another one of the fear tactics that you have been spoon fed? Please Ronnie, FACTS.

If you truly believe that the election is in your god’s hands, stay home on election day.

    Don’t worry. He’s got it.

  128. David Barton says:

Folks, look,God prefers character over charisma. How could someone say that Sarah Palin is a religious nut when she stands for the truth? What in the world has happen to the truth? Thank God for Palin ,and others who stand for the truth. By the way, pray that Barack Obama and family gets saved because one of his biggest supporters Oprah Winfrey is teaching New Age,anti-christ teachings with Eckhart Tolle.

  129. T says:

ryan, be happy believing what you believe.

i suggest you read god is not great (hitchens) or anything by dawkins. none of them, by the way, say what i said about the plagiarized bible. i don’t worship any authors, if you want to imply that later.

i just look at the facts and lead my life, and am pretty damn happy that i finally had the courage to deny the plausibility that a terrible, jealous being in the sky was watching me masturbate at the same time he was wiping out innocent people–whom he looooooooves enough to have sent his only son blah, blah, blah….

  130. Jeri says:

It is so wonderful to hear Sara Palin say her words about God.
She is very correct. God rules the universe and believe it or not he controls your next breath. God is in full control.

  131. missguinness says:

    “115 NelsonBig

112 Ryan: Again, I don’t hate. I can’t just ignore you because the justice system I live by is influenced by you. Your god is on our money, our laws, our freakin’ Pledge of Allegiance. It’d be nice to ignore you. But, fear of (many of) your extreme beliefs is why I can’t.”

I am one of “those” liberals standing right next to NelsonBig on this one. Get your religion off the politics, the rules and regulations that govern the world; a world that is made up of different people. How about helping make a government that takes care of its people no matter WHAT the core belief is? How about following through on “Equality for all” no matter What the bible agrees with or not? How about allowing real (and qualified) people govern the system? People who don’t base their core values on “Faith” or a hunch.

  132. Clive says:

For goodness sake – enough with all the God stuff. I’m quite open to the possibility that there IS a God and creator of everything but if there is then he sure as hell isn’t a loving, caring God who is in day to day control of everything.

Think about this – God had 30 or so years to arrange an ‘accident’ for Adolf Hitler before he worked his way into an influential position in Germany – the guy served on the front line in World War 1 for petes sake…and God couldn’t find a way to direct a bullet towards Hitler and spare the whole world another world war and millions upon millions of innocent deaths? I don’t buy it.

But let’s just not focus on war…here are a few more examples that the all knowing, loving God made / let happen…

1918 – Spanish Influenza Pandemic – anywhere between 50 million and 100 million people dead – worldwide (and over 500,000 people killed in America alone – more than 150 times the dead on Sept 11) – for nothing. Are we saying that God had the power to create the whole universe but couldn’t be bothered to snuff out one single tiny virus before it mutated into something lethal? God must really hate everyone, huh!

2004 – Boxing Day Tsunami – 225,000 people dead – that’s more than 75 times the number of people killed on Sept 11 -an event which spawned the ridiculous ‘war on terror’ – what…no war on God now? How can that be? He let the Tsunami happen, surely? God must really hate the dirt poor people who live near the sea in those far away Asian countiries huh!

Multiple School Classroom shootings in America over the last 20 years – Wow…God must really hate those innocent schoolkids
    huh!

And of course – Sept 11 2001. 3000 people murdered on American soil by muslim nutcases flying (or attempting to) into buildings. Gee – God must really hate America, huh!

So, when Obama wins the Presidency will Palin get down on her knees and worship before God’s chosen one? ‘Cause that’s what we’re saying here.

  133. NelsonBig says:

129 David Barton: How do you know what god wants? Blasphemer!

How do you know that Palin stands for truth anymore than the other candidates do? What facts do you have? Or are you just going on her faith? Tsk tsk. Please state something other than just generalities. It makes you seem ignorant.

  134. Deb says:

Response to Joe Good. Sorry, sir, but you are mistaken. Gov. Palin is correct.

The Bible DOES teach that God sets up rulers/kingdoms.

Read Daniel 5:21 where it is talking about King Nebuchadnezzar. He was removed from his throne for seven years and had to live like an animal . . . until

“he knew that the Most High God rules in the kingdom of men, and appoints over it whomever He chooses.”
    (New King James Version)

Ultimately, God IS in control of the rulers and leaders of this world and it’s nations–including the U.S. Regardless of who wins, McCain or Obama, God is in control!

To answer your question, God is not a Democrat or a Republican. God stands for morality and truth–(personally, I feel that the Republican party as a whole, seems to be much more about morals than the Democratic party). God is all about saving lives, not destroying them.

God hates abortion BUT He loves those who have had abortions AND He loves those who perform abortions. He hates the act of abortion–which is the murder of a baby, one of His creation. Yet, God is ready and willing to forgive anyone who repents of the wrongs that they have committed and who turns away from doing them.

God loves people–all people. However, God hates sin–all sin. So if you have a person who is running around murdering people, God loves that person and desires that person to repent and give their life to Him. However, God hates their deed of murder. Same goes for all sins. God hates the sins, but loves the sinner. He died on the cross to save each sinner FROM their sins. There is so much about all of this in the Bible. It is truly an awesome book! More people should really look into it and give it a chance to change their lives and their attitudes.

So, Joe Good, please check it out for yourself. You will probably find it very interesting to read for yourself that God is in control–even of who becomes the President of the United States of America!

  135. NelsonBig says:

131 Jeri: Seriously? My breath? So, by that rationale I don’t even control myself. Wow, what did addicts and suicide victims do to piss him off? It must’ve really sucked when he made them pull that trigger.

  136. Ronnie says:

Nelson–I put in the middle name beacause I honestly believe that it could well be pertinent. Obama’s past is at best questionable. His spiritual mentor is about as anti-American as you can get. His relationship with Ayres is not as innoncent as he would have Americans believe nor is his involvement with Acorn. He supports abortion (and doesn’t want to save babies when abortions don’t kill them), he supports gays and same-sex marriages, and my list could go on. These things are Biblically wrong!

As for hard facts, I don’t know when Jesus Christ will return. No one know the day or the hour. However, in the book of Revelation the U.S. doesn’t play a big part in the end times. Prophecies are being fulfilled and things are happening around the globe that point that the end times are near.

As for fear tactics . . . I’m not afraid. Praise God that my parents raised me in a Christian home and that I have a certainty that God is in contol. I will vote on 11/4 and I will know that the outcome is part of God’s great plan.

I will also point out that the Evangelical Christian’s posts are not angry and are not defensive. They simply state Biblical truth and what a blessing to know that we don’t have to worry.

  137. J.D. says:

We’ve seen enough postings from believers to our question about free-will vs God’s hand in everything. Most believers here are saying that God is in complete control of the election, of each time we take a breath, of everything we do, etc. We have no free will according to this theory/though process. Therefore how can anyone be judged by your God to go to hell, when God was in control of that person’s entire life?! There are so many contradictions made in Christianity…

  138. Kenneth says:

I thank God that so many of you have honored God by speaking the truth in this blog. To those who have spoken against your Creator in this blog, know that the wrath of God is against you for willfully denying what God has made plain to you. The good news is that God sent his Son to be the propitiation for the sins of anyone who will repent and believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ. If you will repent of your foolish arrogance, you will see that the Bible is the word of God–not the words of men, as one blogger falsely asserted. Hear the word of God:

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools.” (Romans 1:18-22a, ESV)

  139. T says:

ronnie, people have been predicting the imminent end of the world since at least 1700 years ago. these were fervent religious people like cotton mather, the popes, and that guy from england (miller?) who invented the whole idea of the rapture. (you probably love the left behind fairy tales.)

my point: they were all 100-percent wrong. not 99 percent, not 50 percent, but 100-percent wrong.

why do you think you are any more qualified to predict the that the “end times are near”?

  140. GMan says:

    Ronnie,

In your scriptures, USA does not exist, and the world is flat. Have you considered that?

There are a lot of scriptures in this world, they were all written/chanted hundreds if not thousands of years ago. You read an translated and edited version of a book and believe it is the word of GOD.

Sarah Palin’s statement is code for “Vote Republican or God will punish you”, like small town America is code for white evangelical christian and so on.

The problem is that the country is changing and becoming diverse by the day and people like you just don’t get it.

It is returning to its roots… the constitution guaranties freedom of religion, folks like Palin are a threat to the constitution.

  141. missguinness says:

    133 Clive:
“And of course – Sept 11 2001. 3000 people murdered on American soil by muslim nutcases flying (or attempting to) into buildings. Gee – God must really hate America, huh!”

Oh, since it happened in Your Country, it all of a sudden matters and requires JUSTICE?!? What about all those other times WE fought on foreign land, what of those innocent foreigners we killed on THEIR Ground? What then? Why the hell is everyone so concerned about 3000 people when We’ve (THE US) have been the ones killing thousands on their own land? Why?

  142. J.D. says:

In ancient Greek mythology/religious beliefs, the God named Echo was punished by being banished to a cave where Echo was to repeat anything yelled into the cave. Also, Narcissus was so in love with his beauty that he looked over at a reflection of himself in a river, and eventually he died and became a flower that overlooked the river. Other religions used gods to explain thunder, lightning, water falling from the sky (aka rain). All of these are now thought of as fairy tales, we know why an echo happens: sounds waves bouncing off of rocks, etc. Most Christains would laugh at these stories as myths people created to explain the un-explainable.

However, Christianity uses the same stories, a snake slithers on the ground as punishment from God for convincing Adam and Eve to eat the apple, a rainbow is formed as God’s promise not to flood the earth again, etc. We know that a rainbow is a refraction of the sun’s rays though water droplets.

Just because science hasn’t explained everything is not proof in a God. Just look at past religions (and the current myths of Christianity) at how they used mythical Gods to explain what they couldn’t figure out through fairy tales.

  143. NelsonBig says:

137 Ronnie: Again. You’re avoiding the facts. You’ve just proven my point (post 98). How is the name going to be pertinent? It means “good one”. Did you know that? Guess not. I’m not going to get too much into Ayers right now because we’d be here all night. Simply put, it’s a smear tactic from the right. Ask McCain about G. Gordon Liddy.

Acorn is absolutely ridiculous. They paid some guys per signature they got. Those guys just wanted to get paid. THOSE APPLICATIONS WERE ALREADY ON THE “QUESTIONABLE” PILE EVEN BEFORE ANY “INVESTIGATION”. They were never trying to fool anyone.

Just like a true right wing drone, you only hear what is spoon fed to you. Obama stated he was AGAINST gay marriage. Regardless, who cares? Why do you care if there are gay couples? Who are you to judge? If you’re so sure about yourself, why are you threatened by it?

As far as the outcome of the election being your god’s plan? Fine, stay home on election day. Either way, it’ll be your god’s plan, right? Better yet, let’s not even have elections. Let’s just appoint someone who your god says should be in office. Oh wait! That’s called a Monarchy. Wow. Talk about overturning the gov’t.

There’s not reason for Evangelicals to be angry. Ever hear of “ignorance is bliss”?

  144. poguemark says:

If God is in control…then why was Bush elected???

  145. RL says:

All the people here talking like idiots about christians and Jesus. For your sake you had better be right. If not you will just still be the same moron you always were just doing eternity where you belong. God will never be mocked without a price.

  146. T says:

    RL: Prove it.

  147. RL says:

T, Don’t need to prove anything just sit back and watch LOL at your extreme ignorance.

  148. NelsonBig says:

139 Kenneth: I wanted to post a rebuttal. However, I can’t speak intelligently about a Disney movie. There is nothing in your posting that even close to factual.

  149. T says:

    exactly.

alright folks…this was fun. good night and i’ll not see you in hell.

    (cause it don’t exist.)

  150. Deb says:

To 124 Joe and to 130 T. I will be praying for both of you. Regardless of if you believe in God or not, your belief does not change the fact that God does exist and that He is in control of everything!

Just because someone doesn’t believe in the laws of gravity, doesn’t change the facts. Gravity does exist and if you defy the laws of gravity and step off a tall building, you will probably end up being killed. Same goes with believing or not believing in God. You can “not believe” all you want to. However, your unbelief doesn’t change anything except your own outcome–your own fate.

I will be praying that you will open your hearts to God and His love because He loves each of you more than you can even comprehend. He loves you even though you are basically ridiculing Him publicly.

Please open your hearts before it is too late. The Bible teaches that there is only one sin that cannot be forgiven, and that is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. So, when the Holy Spirit speaks to your heart and tries to guide you to a knowledge and understanding of God, please do not reject His leading. If you reject the Holy Spirit, there is no more hope for your salvation.

    In Matthew 12:30-37 Jesus states,
“He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad. Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come. Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” New King James Version

  151. NelsonBig says:

148 RL: Can you see how blindly arrogant you are? When anyone posts something that challenges your story, you come back with “just sit back and watch”. It’s like watching a 3rd grader with his big brother behind him.

Dude, if I were your god? I’d be fed up and tell you to fight your own fights.

  152. NelsonBig says:

151 Deb: The bible also teaches that it’s okay to marry many women, that a woman is dirty and shouldn’t be touched during her menstrual cycle, that it’s okay to kill a baby or a family member, that your god loves the smell of burning flesh, that murdering your wife is okay, that divorced women are not clean, and that gays are an abomination. Oh yeah, and that rape is okay.

    Good night. 🙂

  153. Ronnie says:

You assume that either free will is true or God knows what we are going to do and has ultimate control. That line of thinking is flawed.

God IS in control. He may or may not intervene in specific events but that in no way diminishes His power. As a father I watch my young children make choices and take actions everyday. At any point I may choose to intervene in what they are doing and take control. Just because I don’t intervene does not mean I don’t have the authority or ability to intervene. I simply choose to do so when I deem it necessary.

There are times when I let my children take actions that I know will have negative consequences. It is not a desire to see them suffer–I love them more than my own life. However, wisdom tells me that there are some lessons in life that have to be experienced in order for true learning to take place. Do you keep a child from learning to walk so they don’t have to fall down? That would be foolish. The child must face that challenge and overcome it. You could step in every time the child tries to stand up and pick them up but in the long run that is not helping the child. The child will learn more from falling down and getting back up than anything you could “teach” him/her about walking.

When I choose to intervene that does not mean my kids didn’t have the free will to choose what they do, or try to do. It just means that I’m more powerful than the child and I can stop them when I choose.

God often moves in the same way. He doesn’t always step in but when He knows it is necessary He takes action. This in no way means you or anyone else did not have a choice. That is nonsense. Do you really believe He did not know 9/11 was going to happen? Foolishness. He knew and He allowed it, not because He takes pleasure in watching humans suffer. No. The suffering that event caused must have grieved Him terribly. However, those terrorists had free will. They chose to hate. They chose to want to cause suffering and death. God did not make them wicked–they chose that path. Could He have prevented it? Yes. Why didn’t He? I don’t know. I wish I could give an answer but I don’t know, although I do have some thoughts on the subject.

Bottom line, you choose your actions. My God doesn’t desire anyone to go to hell. But He will not force you or anyone else to believe in and accept His Son, Jesus. That is up to each and every one of us. God is holy…He will not accept sin. That is why Jesus came to earth, died, and was raised from the dead. He became the ultimate sacrifice so that each one of us would have the opportunity for eternal life. But we must choose.

  154. Kim says:

I wouldnt expect anyone that does not belong to the Lord to understand what Sarah is saying. Just pray for them, thats all we can do

  155. Deb says:

To JD #138–yes, we had all better believe it! God is definitely in control of each breath that you (and I) take! If it were not for God’s life sustaining power, you would be dead. God gives you each and every breath that you take. You have no power to maintain your own life. You have the power to take your own life BUT not to maintain it!

There was once an arrogant king in the Bible named Herod. One day he got all dressed up in his royal apparel and set on his throne and gave a speech to the people. The people were so impressed that they kept shouting, “The voice of a god and not of a man!” Herod enjoyed all the praise and didn’t correct the people for referring to him as “god”. So, do you know what happened? You can read it yourself in Acts 12:21-23. God nipped his arrogance in the bud. The Bible says, “Then immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give glory to God. And he was eaten by worms and died.”

We need to be careful how we talk about God. He is loving and He is very tolerant of us, however, He maintains a balance between justice and mercy. He has been merciful to this old world for quite a long time. In the near future, we will begin to see some of His justice and judgments. Be forewarned! God’s judgments will be seen by all the inhabitants of the Earth in the relatively near future. Read Revelation 8 and onward.

So, JD, like it or not. God gives you every breath that you take. Rather than reject and talk snidely about Him, why don’t you open your heart and ask Him to come in and make you into the person He desires you to be? I think it would be awesome to meet you in Heaven someday. Good luck and God bless you, I’ll be praying for you.

  156. NelsonBig says:

154 Ronnie: So, if one of your children kills thousands in your name, you wouldn’t intervene? I guess it’s a lesson we have to learn at their expense. Hmm…okay. Good argument there.

Again, it all comes down to your words on 9/11…”I don’t know”. How can you rely on such abominations so blindly? Your god has apparently been kicking this planets ass since the beginning. Yet, people are still with the “mysterious ways” excuse.

Your god seems a bit harsh to his followers, no?

  157. Paul Stewart says:

It seems to me we ought to leave God out of this. He is personal to each person, and he is not running in this election.

If you want to win Gov. Palin, you need to get out and do it yourself. God helps those who help themselves. Whatever the result, God is with all of us in our own way. He is not driving the election and its results.

Now, I do believe, how he shines through in each person, how each person looks at his or her responsibility to themselves and to their fellow men, will affect the outcome.

However, we can’t just throw the ball to God to answer for what we have done or will do.

  158. NelsonBig says:

155 Kim: Oh we understand. It’s agreeing with you is where you have trouble. You tell me that there’s a man in the clouds that can watch me shower. I say that there is a VAST universe with an innumerable amount of galaxies. One is based on facts, the other is fiction.

  159. Dixie Chyc says:

Hey, Rubin who said, “Does this mean that God is a republican?”
Please LISTEN to what she said, “I know at the end of the day putting this in God’s hands, the right thing for America will be done, at the end of the day on Nov. 4.”
So, no, that does not mean God is a Republican. It means God will do the right thing for America on Nov. 4th. If the right thing is Obama, then so be it. That’s what she said. May God’s will be done on Nov. 4th, whoever it is. God bless America and keep us safe. May we all see the need to celebrate the freedoms we have and be thankful for the opportunity to elect our leaders.

  160. Kim says:

    Nelson,

I will especially pray for you. you are a very lost soul.
You may think you are being smug or funny or whatever…but when your day on this earth ends, you will not be laughing. better love yourself enough to do a little research and learn the truth. your soul depends on it.

  161. NelsonBig says:

158 Paul Stewart: Though I disagree wholeheartedly with your beliefs, I must say; your passiveness with it is comforting.

  162. Deb,

I think you probably know in your heart that there is no god, you’re just terrified of the consequences. This is 2008, it’s ok to be honest with yourself. Just because your parents were fanatical doesn’t mean you have to be. A lot of things weren’t very well understood in the not too distant past.

Even Mother Theresa had it figured out before she died.

Do yourself a favor and free your mind of the chains of christianity. Or start praying to a ham sandwich (#124). Either way, it won’t matter. Once you die you’ll become compost, just like the rest of us.

  163. NelsonBig says:

160 Dixie Chyc: Again, if it’s in your god’s hands, just stay home on election day. He’ll handle it.

  164. FriendOfGod says:

Let me say I am disappointed to see all the typos, name-calling and other “sewer-level” postings in this forum.

    Is there a God?

Let me ask a couple of questions that may provoke some thought:

    1. Look at your hands you are using to type your posts. Who made something so incredible? General Motors? Dell Computer? Microsoft? Labs at MIT?

    2. Who made your eyes you are using to read this? The electromagnetic spectrum is huge! The human eye is tuned to only see a tiny, tiny sliver of that spectrum. Yet within the spectrum of what we call visible light, there are millions of colors and shades of colors and our eye can distinguish even slight variations of those colors. That is not random… that is evidence of a creator…. ie God.

    3. The United States of America was founded by human beings that very strongly believed in God. Other than that, they had very little going for them against the British Army, the Native Indians (who worshiped pagan Gods), the elements of nature, etc. Yet with their faith, they established a nation that has accomplished more than all the other nations of history combined…. including this Internet which itself is incredible. Everyone in the world benefits from the Internet… not just Republicans or Democrats…. not just one race but all races…. not just one nation but all nations.

    4. Everything invented by humans can be used for good or bad. A pencil can be used to write a beautiful poem, sketch a beautiful picture but can also be used to poke someone’s eyeball out. That is where freedom of choice that God gives us comes into play. How are we going to use what we are given? God looks at that. Other people look at that too.

    5. People sometimes say there is no God because if there was a God then how could that entity let people get diseases, starve to death or be murdered? Well again…. God gives us our senses, gives us free-will, gives us talents and skills and then watches to see what we do with them.

    6. I once asked God …. “How are you so patient with the human race?” He answered me in my spirit almost instantly. He “said”: Humans become impatient due to the fact that whatever is causing them to lose patience is either costing them time or money. But I am God. I own everything. No human lives on Earth forever and humans can not even take an eyelash with them when their earthly body dies. I am God. I was here at the beginning of time and I will be here till the end of time, so time means nothing to me… I own all of time too!

After He revealed that to me I was like…. MORE THAN WOW!!!!!

    7. No matter who wins this election, Senator Obama being both an African-American and a Presidential candidate is a blessing for a very simple reason: it destroys every logical reason for anyone to run up the racist allegation. But instead of people realizing that deeply, ignoring the race of the individual candidates and looking deeper into the real issues and who to vote for based on that, it is causing much division based on race. That part is not a blessing which leads me to #8.

    8. If Senator Obama does become President of The United States and I or anyone disagrees with him about anything, whether they are black or white or brown or green or purple, will that be then viewed as being a racist because of the color of Mr. Obama’s skin? That is a very dangerous potential reality because it could lead to people thinking of and treating Obama as a God.

    9. No matter what your answer to yourself might be about my question #1 or #2, I think we all know that Obama did *not* make the hand, nor the eye, nor the food we eat.

    10. As a nation, we all, no matter what the color of our skin are being forced to start thinking on a much deeper level about not only Presidential elections but in my opinion…. everything!

    Thanks,

Palin is right. God controls government by His sovereign will just like He controls everything else. McCain and Palin will be gracious losers if Obama gets in. And the Obama camp will be a bunch of crybabies if it goes the other way — that’s always the way the demobrats react.

  166. Kim says:

I just have to wonder….why are people so resentful and hateful of Christian beliefs? We are free to believe as much as they are free not to. I dont hate them, and neither does God (even though they deny Him). I am not one to shove anything down their throats. Most of what I feel for them is pity

  167. NelsonBig says:

161 Kim: Oh no. Don’y pray for me. I am in no way, shape, or form lost. I love my life. I am a free man and I see life for what it is. I marvel at the beauty nature has provided us. My only fear is that we, as humans, are destroying our only known home and our bible pushing politicians are saying it’s okay cause their god said so.

If you want to pray, pray for the strength to be active and stand up against people that keep all those like you in line using the bible and its tired, plagiarized story.

  171. Kim says:

    Mike: ditto

  172. kape says:

God’s ways are foolishness to those who are not believers. Once a person accepts the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, his eyes are opened and he see things differently. Those that “are of the world” will see things from a world view. Those that are children of God, look to God to show them His ways, not the ways of the world and He does. Seek God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you. God loves the sinner not the sin. Your problem is that you don’t think that your homosexuality is a sin. It is a sin the same as a man and woman living together outside of marriage is a sin in God’s eyes. The Bible clearly states that homosexuality and sex outside marriage are sins. Just because the world is telling us it is ok, doesn’t mean it is. And Satan is real and the great deceiver!

  173. Deb says:

153 NelsonBig: Anything can be taken out of context. You did bring up some good points of discussion. However, you should not present random statements as fact.

For instance, the Bible does not teach that rape is okay. In fact, God is very specific about the laws of sexual morality. You can read a long list of things in Leviticus 18 that goes into much detail about various sexual laws.

God institued marriage between one man (Adam) and one woman (Eve)–read Genesis 2:21-24. Sinful man instituted marriage between man and multiple women. It became a custom in certain cultures. Just because it occurred and was “allowed” doesn’t mean that it is what God desired. God is not a dictator. Mankind has a free will and the power of choice. We make bad choices and decisions in many cases. Polygamy was one of mankind’s poor decisions. It was not God’s choice for us. His choice was demonstrated at creation when he provided one woman for Adam.

God says to mankind, “Thou shalt not kill” however, God did institute capital punishment . . . BUT there were very specific qualifications that had to be met. For instance, there had to be at least two witnesses to a murder in order to put the murderer to death, etc. You can read about this in Deuteronomy 17:6-7.

You seem like a nice guy. If you want to make those statements about the Bible, then please keep them in context and maybe actually put the scripture reference along with them so that people can look up the references and read the statements in their proper context.

When phrases are lifted out of the Bible in a random order, it can totally change the intended meaning of what was written.

    Have a great evening!

  174. FriendOfGod,

There is no arguing with you. You’ve clearly lost all touch with reality. Nothing that I or anyone else says to you will never resonate unless it is also printed in your bible.

    Good luck, you’ll need it.

    1. Natural selection. More and more evidence is being discovered to support this daily. Sorry dude. Were not the only ones with hands.

    2. Birds and insects have WAY better vision than us…because they need it. We don’t need it so our vision is not as good as theirs. There are animals that have sockets that sense light (the first stages of eye evolution). Other animals have infrared vision. If we’re the rulers of all animals, why don’t we have that?

    3. This paragraph is all over the place. Shows how confused you are. The internet is a new technology that has been created by the military; as is any other great invention. We also created the atom bomb. Yup, your god is on our side alright.

    4. Yeah. All the bombs we’ve dropped on civilians in a war that your god has blessed us with were meant to paint pictures. I get it.

    5. Do you proofread? Your talking about free will and then you mention diseases. Yes, grandma got breast cancer because of her free will.

    6. Now I know there’s little help for you. Most would call you a blasphemer for speaking with your god. If you hear voices, you should probably get checked for schizophrenia. Hmm…guess you should write a new version of the bible. Let’s see how the gov’t will handle you then.

The gov’t loves this religion. It keeps you all in line. Anytime anyone tries to make another religion (not all are polygamists and/or pedophiles. Those SHOULD be disbanded), it’s called a cult and immediately disbanded by our tolerant gov’t. Why is it so wrong? Didn’t Christianity have a beginning?

    7. You kind of made sense there.

    8. You had me until your delusions of treating Obama as a god. Do you believe in the pope? Don’t people worship him? Why is that okay?

    9. WTF?

    10. The only thing I agree with.

  178. NelsonBig says:

170 Angie: O_O What?!?!?! You are sorely mistaken. There are MANY quotes from our founding fathers that state religion is not to be part of the country’s core. That is just plain false. I will post as I find them.

POLYGAMY: Deuteronomy 21:15 If a man have two wives, one beloved, and another hated, and they have born him children, both the beloved and the hated; and if the firstborn son be hers that was hated:

2 Samuel also states about 7 wives for David.

KILLING WOMEN AND CHILDREN: Deuteronomy 2:33-36: At God’s instructions, the Israelites “utterly destroyed the men, women, and the little ones” leaving “none to remain.”

Hopefully, that will solidify the doubts.

Article 6 in the Constitution: [N]o religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States. — If it was founded on Christianity, why would this be allowed?

    More to come.

  182. Ronnie says:

    Nelson . . .

God is perfect. He punishes sin, in His time, according to His will. Call it harsh if you choose. But the truth is, God is also love. Jesus chose to exercise free will when He went to His death, to make a way for our salvation. He laid down His life for all mankind. Again, you have to choose to accept or deny Him.

With all sincerity, I don’t understand how you come up with my children killing thousands in my name. The absurdity of linking that to the concept of allowing children to face their challenges because of a specific purpose is beyond words.

And God isn’t out to get the human race. Don’t try to blame the problems in this world on God. He simply has allowed us to exercise our free will. Be glad that God IS in control and does get involved…the world would be much worse off if He left us to our own devices.

“How can you rely on such abominations so blindly?” I will gladly place my life and my soul “blindly” in God’s hands. I assure you it is a much better place to be than trusting in the intellectualism and sophistication of men. I freely admit I don’t know why or how God makes His decisions. I don’t have to know.

  183. NelsonBig says:

180 Jodi: I, personally, am giving her a hard time because your god has NOTHING to do with an election. It’s just like saying your god helped the Patriots with the Super Bowl.

The only gov’t in which “god” chooses is a Monarchy. In which case there would be no voter influence. Would you be happy with that?

What’s the point in going out to vote if “god” is going to choose anyway? Actually, let’s put it to the test. How about all who believe Gov. Palin stay home on election day? Let “god” handle it.

  184. what god? says:

you are a fucking idiot. may your children kill you in your sleep.

  185. NelsonBig says:

183 Ronnie: How can you say that your god loves you when he has you fearing for your soul?

I mentioned your children because you analogized your parenting methods to those of your god’s. So, by your rationale, we, as “god’s” children kill thousands of women and children overseas with “god’s” blessings. Would you allow the same of your children?

Tell me how and when your god has intervened? The Inquisition? Don’t you think that would’ve been a good opportunity?

Your last paragraph is the most concerning. Even though millions have been murdered in the name of your god you still follow blindly…and admit it. It’s people that become upset with the unjustness that make the differences. When was the last time you stood up to your gov’t because something was unjust?

Iraq is an unjust war in every sense of the word. FACT: The Iraq war was started illegally. Did you actually get up and protest to try for justice or did you just sit at home in front of your TV (just like they want you to) thinking that your god will do the right thing.

  187. Deb says:

    163 Joe:

If you truly believe what you are saying then my heart goes out to you so very much! What a sad outlook to think that you will just end up as compost.

I do not THINK there is a God, Joe. I KNOW that there is a God. He is the Creator of you and me and this Earth and the vast and limitless universe. He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, all merciful . . . He is just and fair. God loves all the people in the world. There is not just one denomination or religious system of people that will go to heaven. The Bible teaches that there are only two groups of people in the world, the lost (represented as goats) and the saved (the sheep).

In John 10:16 Jesus stated, “Other sheep I have which are not of this fold (he was talking to Jews at the time); them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.”

There are people in every religious system on the face of this planet that hear God’s voice speaking to their hearts, their consciences. They follow Him. They may not have ever even heard the name of Jesus but they know His voice and follow Him. Romans 2:14 says, “for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them.” New King James Version.

The Contemporary English Version (CEV) of the Bible states Romans 2:14 a little simpler, “Some people naturally obey the Law’s commands, even though they don’t have the Law. This proves that the conscience is like a law written in the human heart. And it will show whether we are forgiven or condemned, when God appoints Jesus Christ to judge everyone’s secret thoughts, just as my message says.”

Romans 2:11-12 (CEV) also says, “God doesn’t have any favorites! Those people who don’t know about God’s Law will still be punished for what they do wrong. And the Law will be used to judge everyone who knows what it says. God accepts those who obey his Law, but not those who simply hear it.”

Just so you will know Joe, when you die, it is as if you are sleeping. You can read the story of Lazarus to see that Jesus refers to death as “sleep”. In John 11:11 Jesus told his followers that his friend Lazarus was “asleep” and that he was going to go and “wake him”. His disciples responded that if Lazarus was sleeping he would get well, he would be okay. In case you aren’t familiar with the story they had gotten word that Lazarus had been very sick and his sisters were sending for Jesus to come see him. Anyway, Jesus then “said to them plainly, ‘Lazarus is dead.’ (John 11:14).

Death is again referred to as a “sleep” in I Corinthians 15:51-52; in Psalm 13:3; in Mark 5:39 when Jesus referred to a dead child as “sleeping”, the people laughed him to scorn. There are many, many more references in the Bible that equate “death” to “sleep”, so Joe, I hope you find comfort in this. But what happens after death?

I Thessalonians 4:16-18 gives us the answer. It says,
“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.” This tells us what happens to the believers, but what about those who reject God, what happens to them?

Revelation 21:8 tells us their fate. “But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake of fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” So the wicked people will burn and burn for an appointed length of time commensurate to their crimes.

After they have burned long enough to “pay for their crimes and sins” Malachi 4:1-3 tells us, “For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, and all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn them up, says the Lord of hosts, that will leave them neither root nor branch. But to you who fear My name the Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings; and you shall go out and grow fat like stall-fed calves. You shall trample the wicked, for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day that I do this, says the Lord of hosts.”

So, after burning long enough to pay for their sins, the wicked will be burned completely up into ashes. They will no longer exist. They won’t even be compost!!

Joe, I look so forward to that day that Jesus will take all the people to heaven who have listened to his voice! I hope that you will also come to the saving knowledge and love of Christ. I pray that you will hear His voice and listen to it. I will look forward to meeting you someday in Heaven. I hope that you chose to go there.

    May God bless you!

When was the last time you had an atheist movement to teach counter religion?

Lets see, Communist Russia, how many Christians did they kill?

Communist China, Communist N Korea, Communist Vietnan, Pol Pot in Cambodia

I could type a page. Athiests killed more religous people in the last century than religions did (by some estimates) in the 2000 years since Christ.

Religion has had a very sad history, but the Athiests have faired no better.

  189. Mary Beth says:

141 Gman Isaiah 40:22a states that… “It is He that sits on the CIRCLE of the earth… “did you know that Christopher Columbus sailed to the “new world”, believing that the earth was round, all because he believed this scripture and not the ‘fairytales’ of the earth being flat? God’s word does not state the world is flat. And the USA DOES exist in the bible. God loves you, Gman.

    167 Kim..and other Christian Believers…

Our Father’s Word tells us that we, as Christians, will suffer persecution ‘for the Word’s sake’. Jesus Christ gave us these words so we wouldn’t be surprised. They (the unsaved) are ‘OF the world, not just IN it, as those who are walking in the true Light of Jesus are. Paul tells us that ‘the god of this world’ has blinded them, there truly is a veil over their spiritual eyes. Anyone who once was lost and got saved knows firsthand about this veil. We can’t convince any unsaved people of the existence of that blindness, and only by and through the Father drawing them to the Son (Jesus) will they be able to see it. I agree with AGD, until one truly experiences the mercy and grace of God, there is no way to explain it, and trying to convince them, unless the Holy Spirit is drawing them is truly futile.

Prayer is our main weapon against all of these lies of the enemy, the god of this world, satan. Reading some of these posts, I cry for more intercessors to take their place on the wall. For more family members to take their place of authority as a believer and claim their friends and family for the Kingdom of God, and put the enemy on notice. Believers, we have the authority over the enemy! Take your places, watchmen…

God is not the one who causes all the destruction that was listed by Clive. satan has an earth lease until the return of Christ. satan is ‘the destroyer’. God is Love.

Believers have the authority given them by Christ to ‘tread on serpents and scorpions’. However, most believers haven’t understood their authority in Christ. Jesus didn’t speak to the storm to prove He could. He spoke to the storm in order to show His people what they could do, through Him. Ephesians 2:6 tells us we have been raised up TOGETHER with Christ and seated in heavenly places, WITH HIM.

If this thread does anything, it shows me the desparation of people and the sadness of those seperated from God, and the dire need for continual intercession.

Sarah Palin is a HOLY SPIRIT FILLED Believer. She has indeed been raised up by God ‘for such a time as this’. For those of you praying in faith, Psalm 27 is a good scripture to pray over her, every day, until election day. Pay attention to your dreams, Christian believers.

By the way, for those listening by the Spirit… did you see the news about Big Brown’s injuries (Race Horse) on October 13th? He’s going to be retired. Not going to be able to race his big race, the Breeders Cup, against Curlin. His left rear foot clipped his right front foot and gave him a pretty severe injury to his walk…now retired.

    178: NelsonBig

Thanks Nelson. Let me expound a little bit for you.

    1. I am saying God made hands…. did not say just human hands….. the fact that other species have hands just furthers my point…. two or more different species and both have hands? You say natural selection…. ok….. who did the selecting? Its kinda like this election…. the people will select. So in the case of hands…. who did the selecting please?

    2. I did not say that humans as a species have the best vision. Again thanks for helping me on my point. Something made vision better than mine. Great. Mine works for me pretty well thank God. And as far as us needing eyes that do infrared? God gave humans a brain for figuring that one out without the need for my God given eyes to see infrared… ie we invented infrared detecting devices.

    3. You failed to say anything about the founding fathers of the USA. Any comment? Because the USA was founded, all the inventions the USA people have come up with is unrivaled 100%. Are you arguing with this? The Internet is one of the latest inventions and yes it was invented by the US Military…. so are you saying you wish the US Military had *not* invented the Internet as a forum for everyone? I think it is noteworthy that the US Military and government decided it would be a good thing for everyone in the world and hey… why are you using the Internet if you are against it?

    4. The atom bomb has saved more lives and helped more lives world wide than it has ever killed. Notice how nuclear power plants and even nuclear medicine…. direct result of inventing the atom bomb….. benefit everyone in the world…. especially fossil fuel haters? And yes…. the atom bomb itself has prevented many wars as a deterrent to attacking the United States. Again…. thank you.

    5. You missed this one completely. Our free will as human beings means we can each use what we have for good or bad. Have you made a choice to fund breast cancer research out of your pocketbook? Perhaps you have a degree in medicine and are immersed in in lab experiments and documentation about how to prevent and/or stop the progression of breast cancer? God is watching your thoughts, words and actions and so is everyone else in this forum…. are you part of the problem NelsonBig or part of the solution…..? The choice *is* yours.

    6. You would have no basis for saying I am blaspheming anything about God for asking him questions. James 4:8 says… Draw closer to the Lord and He will draw closer to you. That means that as I come closer to Him, He will be closer to me …. ie…. he gives me some answers. No its not voices I heard… its thoughts in my mind. By the way who do you go to to get the answers to your questions? Yourself only? That would probably not be the wisest course of action.

    7. Thanks. I believe this part of the Obama for President thing is great too.

    8. People that worship the Pope are also misguided. If they asked the Pope… May I worship you Pope? He would say No Thanks. If he said… OK….. then we need a new Pope.

    9. The only reason I mentioned the Obama as God thing is because he has been called a messiah in the press and some people do seem to think he is a messiah. With Christianity, we already have a messiah and so we are not looking for one. Non-Christians are looking for a messiah. That is dangerous if they think that any President of The United States of American is a messiah.

    10. Glad we at least agree on something. Let’s work from there together to get to the truth and the solutions the world and the US need. Palin is far from perfect but in my discernment, Obama is further from the truth than Palin.

Also God does not call the able to action… rather…. He enables those called to duty. I think I can trust Palin by her statements of reliance on God more than I can trust Obama who so far seems to be relying on himself for absolute truth…. and that is not wise at best and world-destructing at worst.

I am praying for you Nelson and God hears my prayers brother.

    Thanks,
    God Bless America

it would be nice if we could all agree to disagree in this country, but organized religion has to destroy itself. history shows that truth, science, common sense, and reason is no match for faith. faith is the one thing they will cling to when they have been shown to be wrong about the existance of a god figure. they need their security blanket for a few more generations.

As a Christian, let me apologize for all Christians who have done things *not* Christian and did it in the Christian name. There has been a ton of that for the last 2000+ years.

As everyone can tell I think, NelsonBig is a very intelligent and articulate person. God have Nelson those gifts. That is a blessing to the world if God uses Nelson for all things Good.

I would like to propose to my fellow Christians that we all engage in some serious prayer for NelsonBig and that God would absolutely touch NelsonBig tonight and do it in a God-sized and God-mannered way.

Same with ancient Germans who were told that thunder was a god. It’s so simple, really, if you just stand back and look at it. Dare to question why you believe what you believe.

181 NelsonBig: Yes, 2 Samuel 12:11 tells us that the Lord raises up adversity. In other words, God is in control. It does not say that rape is “okay”. David sinned in secret and God was going to punish him openly. We each have free will and the power of choice. When we make poor or bad choices there are consequences to our actions. And sad to say, sometimes because of our poor choices, innocent people are hurt in the process. For example, when two parents decide they can’t stand each other and they divorce; the innocent children are also effected.

In regard to polygamy: As I stated earlier, God allowed it. God did not design it. God designed marriage to be a sacred union between one man and one woman. See Genesis 2:20-24

Hey, sorry but I have to go. I just got a long distance call that I need to take. Good luck in your study of God’s Word!!

  201. NelsonBig,

I would like to buy you a beer.

People don’t hate Christians, they hate the ideas people espouse when they don’t stand up tp reason. Maybe if you did some thinking outside of your precious Bible or actually read it once in awhile you might question a few things. First of all you rubes, Republicans come out against abortion yet they do nothing about it. In the 35 years since Roe v. Wade we have had 12 years of Democratic presidents and 23 years of Republican presidents. If they were so against it they had plenty of time to change it. They don’t because they secretly want it but they know it is a rally cry. Secondly, Republicans are more responsible for abortion than Democrats. You can look it up in a book if you know how to do so. Just look and see the Justices that voted for abortion rights. The majority who voted for were nominated by Republican presidents. Do you have the ability to look at facts? Probably not because facts stand up to reason.
Also this country was not founded on god. Read a history book for Christ’s sake. God commanded me to say this. So email him in rebuttal.

  203. Clive says:

    Dear Missguinness,

I’m not really sure where you are coming from…I actually have dual British / Australian nationality and live in Australia. I’m not sure you really understood the thrust of my post – or even read it thoroughly. If you had you would surely have seen that i was, in fact, attempting to offer some perspective (a difficult concept for most Americans, I agree) and remember that Sept 11, whilst absolutely tragic for those involved and their families, was not a huge calamity on a worldwide, historical scale and that far worse things happen in the world which are somehow never blamed on God – I imagine the vast vast majority of Americans wouldn’t have a clue what i was refering to when I mentioned the Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918 anyway. This is not to say they are a bad people – just uneducated and incurious – and sadly, most fundamentalist Christians are the worst of the lot.

  204. Deb says:

197 T: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” John 1:1-5 NKJV

God has existed from time eternal. He has existed long before all religions existed . . . therefore His eternal story and His eternal Word are the ORIGINAL RELIGION.

His Holy Word is the eternal truth about life and it origins, etc, etc, etc. Like it or not. Believe it or not. God is, and was, and forever will be.

I will pray for your soul and that God can break through the barriers that are in your heart. I do not know your background, but God does. And He loves you with an everlasting love even if you don’t care about Him. As long as you have not blasphemed His Holy Spirit, there is still hope for you.

You are in my prayers, as is NelsonBig. May God bless each of you and awaken within you a realization that you need Him in your life.

    Have a very nice night!

Ouch! Strong indictment – unfortunately probably justified from your point of view. Please, please don’t think that the fundies represent most Americans.

    Nelsonbig –

Sorry, I won’t be praying for you tonight. I hope you can understand.

  211. Deb,

You don’t know there is a god. Just because you believe there is one does not make it so. You can say you know and belive millions of times, over and over and the result is this same, it makes no difference.

Why do you not believe there is a giant ham sandwich in the sky? I’ll tell you: because that’s not the story you were given.

The story you were given and believe today is equally or even more ridiculous than the ham sandwich story.

It is equally likely there is a god as there is a ham sandwich in the sky.

Like I said before to one of your fellow sheeple, I cannot argue with you. You’ve obviously got no grasp on reality and choose to believe in something as absurd as santa claus. I’ll never win an argument with you because you refuse to think.

I still believe there is hope for you, not much, but at least some.

  212. Clive says:

    To 190 – Mary Beth

Oh Mary Beth, I am sure you are a wonderful, loving person to know – but some of your responses don’t hold up to critical analysis.

    1. Chris Columbus did apparently write that his voyage to the new world was down to some kind of inspiration from Isaiah 40.22 but you have to realise the historical context and not take this blindly at face value. In contrary to what you may think it was common practise for experienced sailors before columbus to assume the earth was spherical – their navigational techniques using the stars would not have worked unless they assumed the earth was spherical. However, the church certainly did not believe the earth was spherical and Columbus would have been very keen not to upset the Catholic Church – the Spanish Inquisition had just started! His writings almost definitely have more to do with keeping the church sweet than any genuine divine inspiration. Back then the Catholic Church has a nasty habit of actually murdering people who disagreed with it.

You state that Satan is ‘leasing’ the Earth until the second coming of Christ and is therefore responsible for all the bad stuff that happens. Well, please give me some proof – other than just reciting a passage from the Bible – however much you have ‘faith’ in it, and have convinced yourself to believe it, it still isn’t proof. And what on Earth is Christ / God waiting for? He’s been prophecised as ‘just about to come back’ many many many times since the Bible was first put together – but, billions upon billions of people’s deaths, untold wars, disease and misery later we are still waiting. Have you ever asked yourself why? Or what he is waiting for? Why let Satan rule the Earth for the past 2000 years? Why would got want to turn a blind eye to so much misery, war, disease, famine, grief and death if he could just come back and stop it all? Revelations is written in such a way that you can intepret almost any point in history to be the ‘end of days’ if you try. It doesn’t make sense.

God is not the one who causes all the destruction that was listed by Clive. satan has an earth lease until the return of Christ. satan is ‘the destroyer’. God is Love.

So – if Sarah Palin is not elected Vice President then will you say that you are wrong and she clearly hasn’t been lifted up ‘for such a time as this’? And if you pray for her and she isn;t elected does this mean your prayers go unanswered…and if so does this mean that God isn’t listening to you? Or that he doesn;t care what you think or ask for?

I’m not sure what horses have to do with the subject at hand, either. Perhaps you should all get together and pray for his foot though…or did you try that already? See what I mean?

  218. raquelsoto says:

God granted the Adamic race the right of control over the earth. His overall will for humanity will come about, as He can always find at least one who is willing.

However, in our individual lives, God’s will is not always done.

We know this to be true because millions will choose not to receive His gift of redemption through Jesus’ Blood, yet the Word tells us His will is for ALL to come to the saving knowledge of God.

    How can we reconcile this?

    Without God, we cannot.
    Without us, He will not.

He will not violate His Word. He CANNOT intervene unless we ask Him to. He gave up that right in Genesis 1:26 when He said…. Let THEM have dominion….

The Adamic race is the legal spirit on the earth, for we are the only spirits in dirt bodies. We will give authority to one or the other, God or not-God. We are the free will agent establishing the witness. It’s up to us to decide. Not deciding is still deciding!

So, if you want to see God’s will to be done on earth for this election, we ALL have to do our part and pray His will to be done. If you can’t discern what that is, it’s enough to stand on that alone by simply saying and believing:

God, let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven regarding the election in Jesus name. You have authority in the earth!

For more on this subject, there is a 21 part Myles Monroe clip on YouTube that will not only open your eyes, but empower you to pray like never before and see the changes you’ve been waiting for.

I thought you were in the US. 9/11 is nothing but an inside job. But that’s a totally different topic I wish not to discuss on this particular thread/blog.

  223. efenz says:

This is exactly why we’ve become gridlocked in this country.

We have no respect for each other as individuals and seem to have forgotten that it is not our place to judge each other. Sorry, I don’t know the Biblical reference for that, but I think it goes something like “judge not, lest ye be judged”….

I am a Christian and I am gay. Believe me, I’ve heard all there is to be said on that matter. It will be between me and my Creator to hash out when the day comes.

I respect all of you Christians who have done your homework and try to live the best lives you can, but in denegrating me or anyone else, you are not doing the will of God as far as I can see. You have done your job in trying to educate me with “love and compassion”, but it is up to me, it is up to all of us, to decide whether I will repent my sinfulness in time.

I love that Sarah Palin said that the election is in God’s hands, though my vote will go to Obama.

I am God’s child too, and no amount of Biblical rhetoric can get me to change that belief.

  224. John says:

    225 Efenz –

Doesn’t Palin have a church that will “pray away the gay?” Maybe you can look into that.

Seriously, a loving god cannot consider being gay or acting on it (which harms no-one) a sin. Just because some nomads in the desert 2500 year ago apparently thought that makes no difference now. Don’t forget, having lots of children was a good thing in those days.

There are several brands of christianity that no longer stigmatize being gay – I hope you have connected with one of them.

If you must believe in god, that is.

  225. QuakerDave says:

This is a real shame. To think that someone who wants us to believe that she’s a thoughtful, serious person would say something like this.

I’m a liberal AND I’m a believer, and I’m not afraid to say that I’m both. And I also believe that a statement like this is an example of taking God’s name in vain. It’s an awfully big leap, claiming to know what’s in the mind of God.

Sarah Palin is an intolerant person, who in this case was hanging around with an intolerant bigot, and pandering to his sheep.

Doe she really think that if God gave a flying fudgebar about our politics, that S/He’d be supporting her?

  226. Gabriel (not the angel) says:

Everyone needs to get a grip! On all sides. D or R, liberal or conservative, Christian or not.

The simple truth is for those of us that are believers, we are not called to judge! But, we are called to hold our brothers accountable. Helping them with their walk. For those who aren’t walking, stop trying to convince them with your words. Love and pray.

As for who get’s the presidency. Nothing happens without God’s knowledge. He appoints, and he allows. He used King Nebuchadnezzar to further Daniel’s position and influence. He also used Pharoah and Potipher to further Joseph and his influence. God used Alexander the Great to conquer most of the known world at the time and spread Greek language to help further the gospel message which was mostly written in Greek.

So, YES, God will appoint the right person (or allow us to vote the right person), and believe it that whomever it is will be used. As well as held accountable! Both parties claim a Christian faith.

also, I want to apologize to 45 matt. Although I don’t agree with your choice, it is not our place to “fix” you or say that you need to be fixed. That is 100% between you and the Creator.

As for Joe, God was not created by math or any other method. So, how can you mathematically prove He does not exist?

  227. John says:

    228 Gabriel

You might want to check with Matt about how much “choice” he had.

  228. Steve says:

225 Efenz – Don’t listen to the advice of the world for you are not of this world you are a child of God, Heaven bound!

And since you admit that this is sin, Jesus, your savior is ready to forgive you and to show you a way out. Pray to Him now; Ask Him to forgive you, to help you to quit sinning. Tell him that you can’t do it without Him, that it is out of your human control and He will surely help you.

You are just like the rest of us, we are all sinners saved by Grace, we all fall short one way or another. And for many things such as this we are stuck in sin and it is in control of us and we are being led to slaughter. Only with the Lords help and the spirit of Grace can we can overcome and be set free from ravages of sin. Ask today, don’t wait.

Then, read your Bible for the truth so that you may know the truth because only the truth that you know can set you free. For those who are free in Christ are free indeed!

  229. Andy from NY says:

God summed it up in 2 Chronicles 7:14 “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Sarah Palin is on the money; she believes God and His written Word and no matter who wins; God is in control and His decisions are righteous.

Spiritual things are spiritually discerned; (1 Corinthians 2:14 – “Now the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him; and he cannot know them, because they are spiritually judged.) If one is not truly a Christian, there is no way they will understand where Governor Palin is coming from.

    America, bless God!

  230. efenz says:

But Steve (230), are you not also of this world? While I appreciate your endorsement on my behalf, I was not referring to the “sin” of being gay when I said that it will be between me and my maker to make peace.

If there is anything in my life that robs me of peace it is those of you who insist on telling me what is best for me and bastardizing the words of scripture in order to make your point. Maybe the Catholics had it right–laypeople shouldn’t be allowed to interpret the Bible–though I don’t fare much better with them doctrinally.

Until you know me, please don’t insist on changing who I am. You will never listen to me or anyone else who believes differently than you do. I am not asking for your help. I am perfectly happy in my relationship with my creator which grows stronger every day.

The God of my understanding will indeed do the right thing on election day….

  231. sue in arkansas says:

I think that Palin meant that regardless of who wins the political race for president, God is sovereign and He is in control of all. If democrats win, then that is what should happen; if repubs, then that is what should happen. We don’t understand, nor should we, why all things happen. But it doesn’t matter what we believe, God is in control. I am ok with what ever happens in the political race, because my trust is in God not in the candidates.

  232. BeerBaron says:

He has given us the choice of life or death. But then He said choose life. He loves His creation, mankind. He Loves You. His commandments are not grievious. His loving kindness is better than life.
He did not want puppets on strings, so He gave us the choice to receive Him.
