Atheist AC Grayling’s defense of Good Samaritans affirms faith

George Pitcher in the Telegraph:

Philosopher AC Grayling writes a fascinating piece for The Daily Telegraph today about the shocking and dispiriting murder of Frank McGarahan by wild yobs in Norwich at the weekend, when he tried to defend a homeless man from assault.

It’s fascinating for a variety of reasons ā€“ not least for its thesis that none of us should allow others to suffer alone ā€“ but, for me, the great surprise is that this famous atheist affirms my faith in God.

Professor Grayling is the thinking theologian’s atheist. He’s very much at the deeper end of the gene pool from the baseball-bat wielding Richard Dawkins, sniggering from his academic hoodie at silly scriptural passages. By contrast, Prof Grayling is a free thinker, not a chained ideologue.
